Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 11, 2010 10:29 pm Hi everyone. We have seen quite a few houses with BLUE roof tiles. And today, we went to HomeBase Expo in Subiaco; the Midland Brick display had a picture of a house with blue roof tiles. But none of the tile companies can do blue !! (there's 3 tile companies in WA- Monier, BGC and one other I believe...) So where do you get these BLUEYS from? Never seen blue tiles but you would think that terracotta tiles could be glazed blue. Maybe they know more? Boral bricks website shows blue tiles, but we would have to pay a fair bit to truck them into WA. Boral is not available in WA. Re: Blue Roof Tiles ?? in Perth... 8Jul 14, 2010 8:02 am Hey S&S, I just looked up Roof PAinting in Perth and came up with a few. I just picked one at random as an example (No affiliation with comapny have no idea who they are) and in one of the pictures they are painting a roof BLUE. Maybe it's worth a few calls to see what he cost involved is? It may work out OK? I will pm you the link www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Blue Roof Tiles ?? in Perth... 10Jul 14, 2010 9:45 am Don't get your roof painted, that's the start of maintanence issues. Just ring the roof tile suppliers. Try ringing Bristile, I'd say that if they aren't a normal colour range (which they are not) then they may do a custom colour for you but expect to pay. Old house yes. We had our roof restored at our previous place and it was brilliant. Our neighbour's one was done 11 years ago and still looks great. Out of curiousity, what's your motivation behind a blue roof? There's a blue colorbond one near us, and knowing I would never have one personally, I can't help but stare at it everytime I drive past. Colour is a personal choice, and we like blue. A light green XR6 Ford drove past us this arvo and we both said "it looks like an ice-cream colour" but we agreed we liked it. I'm sure others would say "yuk" but ultimately if you want to pay for greenwith pink polka dots, then so be it We drove thru Wellard this arvo, there was a house with tangerine-coloured rendering and a bright orange front door. Go figure. As it's their money, they can pick whatever colour they want. And I rang all 3 suppliers of roof tiles in WA- Monier, BGC, and Bristile (nobody else does tiles in WA) and "the blue oxide is way too much $$ + unpopular" so it's not available here. Can get blue in Colorbond but it costs $1250 more than tiles. "I have more chance of playing full-forward for the Western Bulldogs than of leading the Labor Party!"- J Gillard...
