Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 11, 2010 4:46 pm Hi everyone, Quick question, does anyone know if extending one of your exterior walls out to the line of the eaves mean that you have to have a lower ceiling height inside? For example if you have 2.7 ceiling throughout the house, would the ceiling need to be lower in the room you extended out under the eave? Also would your ceiling in that room be all one height? Currently the frames in our en suite have been built at two different heights. The frames that goes under the eaves is about 30cm lower than the frame for the rest of the bathroom and I'm worried that the internal ceiling height might be two levels because of the two different frame heights. Any advice/information would be appreciated. Thanks Kineso Re: Extending a wall out under the eaves 2Jul 11, 2010 7:20 pm Kineso, yes the ceiling will be lower in the area where an eave would normally be on the outside of the house. An eave lining is always lower than a ceiling and you've basically moved that to the inside of the house. It's reasonably common and doesn't normally look out of place. Update from me! Couldn't find the trimmer - not sure if there isn't one simply because the eave is so narrow.
