House design software

Does anyone have any recommendations for house design software? All of our ideas are jotted down on bits of paper at the moment and it would be nice to have a computer program we could play around with.

My virtual Home is by far the best IMO

Sketchup from google is good too

I f you get the current edition of Better Homes and Gardens, the software (MVH) is attached to the cover...

Yeah I agree - MVH is definitely the best 'home user' one.

Another one is Plan 3D but it's more expensive and harder to use and more leaning towards USA builders. MVH is made in Australia for Australian conditions/products/standards etc.

Of course there are more professional packages but these are usually over $1000.
