There are a range of globes available now though, including fully covered compact fluoros and energy saving halogens, which look much nicer than those hideous twisty CFLs. If you check out the range at a large supermarket or hardware store, you'll find quite a few energy saving globes that are dimmable too, so you'll still be able to use your dimmer switches if you install the right globes. Low-voltage halogens were used in most display homes for the longest time, but changes to government regulations mean that you can only have a small percentage of those in new homes now. Re: Is it a downlight? 8Jul 06, 2010 2:53 pm Your fitting looks like an R80 fittings. Measure the opening diamter and if it's 80 mm you can buy R80 CFL lamps with a frosted finish. They will look nice in the fitting. Re: Is it a downlight? 13Jul 06, 2010 9:20 pm kikin May I ask if you know how much it would appro charge for such downlights? I doubt my builder charged me with the "low voltage" one but installed 100mm downlights.... Anyone know how much the 100mm downlights cost? Metricon Amira |
