Would this have much of a effect on structure of the Roof its above Bedroom 2 has anyone had this problem occur is this standard part of building?
Looks like Douglas Fir (oregon) - I can't believe there are builders still using termites favourite food!

Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity.
