Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 31, 2010 1:33 pm Hi Guys, Currently about to start building in Sandhurst Victoria and was looking at getting some ideas on the whole Fencing issue, and was curious on how much fences cost nowadays and also who people were using 'cause I have no idea of where to start! Any help will be much appreciated. We were stuffed around by fencing guys for weeks on end chasing quotes, and then the guy we went with continued to stuff us around We wanted to get our fences up before our build so we didn't have to pay for temporary fencing as well as a fence, but because of all of the stuffing around we only got 1 side done in time. Lisa- Finally in our house!!! Re: Fencing - Who did you use and how much did it cost? 5Jun 01, 2010 6:21 pm Yeah we were originallly gong to get our fences up first to avoid the temp fencing, but it just seemed not worth the hassle. Question though, when you built your fence did the company who built it invoice all of your neighbours separately? I'm just not sure how it works and who I'm supposed to get the neighbours info from? I don't want to have to pay for the fence myself and have to chase my neighbors for the money, 'cause obviously someone can turn around and decide not to pay if they want to. Any help would be appreciated. The only hassle might come if you can't agree on the style or colour of the fence. To find out the names and contact details of our neighbours, we got in contact with our conveyancer who then contacted the neighbours directly, who then contacted us. If your neighbours used a different conveyancer, your conveyancer should still be able to find out who they went through. Geoff - Decophile. Re: Fencing - Who did you use and how much did it cost? 7Jun 01, 2010 7:09 pm Ring your local council re: the details of your neighbours. Usually the quotes you get have places to sign for all parties so all accountable to pay. However you may find the neighbour may be reluctant to get a fence if they are currently trying to sell their property or have no intentions to build anytime soon. You can always go through a 'Notice to Fence Order" and then if they still don't agree or respond then courts do it all and make them responsible to pay half. Upside-if you have covenants on fence colours etc this saves alot of disagreements. Hopefully we don't have any dramas as our fence will just be normal with capping possibly. We got a good quote at $50mtr with capping on the fence so it seems to be quite cheap. Sorry it's actually $55mtr for the total amount for the whole fence - Through a work college I know. The quote is $739.20 including GST. That's $61.60 per metre. About contacting neighbours, it was the fencing company who contacted us on behalf of the builder building behind our block. I'm going to start investigating who my neighbours are once we are at lock-up stage I think as there shouldn't be any heavy machinery around by then to break my fence! Re: Fencing - Who did you use and how much did it cost? 20Jul 09, 2010 3:08 pm Man, fencing suddenly seems a lot cheaper than i thought it would be! I'm thinking of colourbond fencing in the S/E suburbs, so if anyone has any recommendations for there let me know Plasterboard Gyprock is very popular as a reveal liner these days. You need to provide a way of supporting it, we use a modified timber reveal or bracket. You will be… 1 4742 7 11984 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17856 |
