Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 23, 2007 7:14 pm The guys have started my Awning….should be finished in 2 days I’d say.
Take a look at the photo below, what do you see???? There will be a rake in the roof in the centre Now you don’t have to be a designer to see this……BUT I need to know if it’s just me!!!! I would assume…in this case a male….(no offence to all the men in here) would be able to get this right. It’s as plain as a pimple on your face! I know I’m a perfectionist, I had clients here this afternoon, and neither of them could see what I was hinting at! So I need to know…..is it just me, or is this a building stuff up!!!! TO ME…….ITS NOT RIGNT….what do you see????? Look closely! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: OK NOT A HOUSE BUT….. 7Oct 23, 2007 7:46 pm Michelle, is it that the beams are below fascia board level? Shouldn't they be above the gutter so that they can drain effectively? Re: OK NOT A HOUSE BUT….. 8Oct 23, 2007 7:55 pm Good one Phoenix….I thought the same, but I have worked out how that will happen now.
No….that’s not the issue for me. Let me make it a little easier. Look at the 2 beams, where are they and where SHOULD they be, in relation to being balanced????? Anyone with a SMALL builders eye should pick this, am I the only one? Shouldn't they be above the gutter so that they can drain effectively? Mmmmmmm...how would you mount them ABOVE the fascia? Nothing to screw/bolt into. Wrong colour? Not centred on the door way? Nowhere to hang plants from without drilling holes? Throw us a bone here Michelle...... Re: OK NOT A HOUSE BUT….. 12Oct 23, 2007 8:04 pm Not centred on the door way?
YES!!!!! Not centred……who in their right mind would do THAT? I am having a real hard time coming to grips with it. The post are already cemented into the ground! Yes I know, I’m a designer and see things slightly different to some others…..BUT PLEASE….this is not how it should have been done! See all of you out there in forum land…..see how us designers can pick fault for the simplest things….Its a nightmare for us! And to me, I see this as a huge design mistake! Is it just me????? What can be done in your situation? Can you cut the posts at ground level and re-do it...so that it is more aligned. I still say it is too low, but that is me. Re: OK NOT A HOUSE BUT….. 16Oct 23, 2007 8:27 pm off2theburbs If they set the frames so that the middle of the raking is lined up with the centre of the sliding door then won't you end up with 2 different angles on each side when the put the roofing on or will there still be an even amount of frame on each side because it doesn't look like there will be in the photo I’ve got two uneven sides already! I have figured he has done it for possibly one of 2 reasons. 1) To put the largest uneven side closest to the weather, making sure we don’t get wet when it rains. 2) Giving me maximum amount of light from the 6 clear panels going into the rake .....in my home windows BUT to me it’s off centre and looks bad. As I come out my back door I will feel the over head rake of the ceiling out of balance! What can be done in your situation? Can you cut the posts at ground level and re-do it...so that it is more aligned. I still say it is too low, but that is me. Can’t do anything….I will have to live with it. Its not to low…..the structure has to sit under the eaves as to not get in the way of the gutters on the roof. I’m not prepared to pay extra to get it fixed. I’m assuming it’s just me, being to fussy…..but how hard can it be! Just what I didn’t want to see!!!!
See how much better that looks!!! Now I know why I am so annoyed. That looks so much better…..why would someone do that? Let this be a lesion to you all…. I have said it before….take notice of what is going on. On my part…. I had too much faith in my guy…..mmmm the word GUY, throws me off straight away!
