Gutter, fascia, garage door - colourbond jasper Exterior wall render - Dulux Nile Clay (3/4 strength) Windows - Powder coated White birch (alternative - barrister white) Eaves - Dulux Chalk White USA Courtyard wall render - Dulux Mali (this is a pier and panel wall with horizontal wooden slats stained in Jarrah/Redgum) Front door - stained in Jarrah/Redgum (alternative - painted in Dulux Mali) Driveway - "Monsoon Rains" Jet Dry Aquatread by Berger Our block is a corner block with the longer boundary facing north and the shorter boundary facing east. The entry and garage are on the shorter boundary. The courtyard wall is to the side of the house and runs the length of the alfresco area. The same wall with gates extends along the side of the house from the end of the house to the fence (to enclose the backyard) The picture is not too good, you can't see the different render strengths and the dune roof looks the same as the render (which it isn't) But, here it is anyways... http://img88.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ourcolourboardep2.jpg Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 2Oct 23, 2007 4:10 pm you have a couple of colours similar to ours - feel free to check out the blog and see how they look on the house. i love white window frames! Just build it the way I want and everything will be okay. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 4Oct 23, 2007 5:16 pm Thks for the replies.
bmp, is your gutter and fascia colourbond jasper? What did you pick for the garage door colour? And your windows are birch white? I'm not too sure about the white windows...I hope it will look good with the render colour and the dune roof. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 5Oct 23, 2007 5:23 pm yes, fascia and gutter and jasper and we picked jasper for the garage door also. I LOVE the white particularly from the inside as the house looks lovely and fresh. When they have done our internal painting you can have a look at how they come up too. Just build it the way I want and everything will be okay. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 7Oct 24, 2007 10:22 am Thks aaurora. If it's not too much to ask for, would you be able to post a picture of your garage door? Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 8Oct 24, 2007 10:53 am sandra_canberra….love the Jasper!!!! ![]() Luckily you are only using it on the Gutter, fascia, garage door, as it tends to fade when on the roof. I printed out your colour board……looking at it quickly without looking at names of the products and colours……I think you have done a GREAT job at putting your colours together!!! Love them, well done!!!! ![]() If I can find some photos of the Jasper to show you I will post them up. I was hoping you would have a look at my colour board.
Just one question, do you think Dulux Nile Clay 3/4 strength is a good choice for the render? It looks similar to dune in the picture, but, I have seen pics of dune roofs and I think they're quite light. Will dune look good with Nile Clay? And, another question - the birch white windows? I'm not too sure about white windows...what do you think? Should I go for cream instead? Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 10Oct 24, 2007 11:57 am Sandra…..I’m not in my office at the moment.
I’ll have a look for you tonight, when I have all my colours on hand. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 11Oct 24, 2007 7:22 pm Sandra….had a look at your colours for you.
I have no problem with the Nile Clay…..nice colour! I would look at in a ½ strength though….just be sure! The Dune is a slightly different colour, but will still work. The Nile Clay is perfect with the Jasper!!! I like the Birch White for your windows; it will give a real contrast!!! Cream will loose the look with neutrals you are using, you will then add a yellow…….(cream) I think you have done well Sandra…..and it should look quite smart!!! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 12Oct 25, 2007 10:11 am Thank you very much Michelle. Your feedback is much appreciated. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 13Dec 28, 2007 8:30 am Michelle,
Just a quick question for you please - We have just got development approval for our plans, but, there is a restriction that we cannot have a white/off-white colorbond roof. Our builder thinks dune is considered off-white and says we should go with an alternate colour choice. These were our orginal colours - Roof - colourbond dune Gutter, fascia, garage door - colourbond jasper Exterior wall render - Dulux Nile Clay (3/4 strength) Windows - Powder coated White birch (alternative - barrister white) Eaves - Dulux Chalk White USA Courtyard wall render - Dulux Mali (this is a pier and panel wall with horizontal wooden slats stained in Jarrah/Redgum) Front door - stained in Jarrah/Redgum (alternative - painted in Dulux Mali) Driveway - "Monsoon Rains" Jet Dry Aquatread by Berger Do you think we could now go with - Roof - colourbond jasper Gutter, fascia, garage door - colourbond dune Exterior wall render - Dulux Nile Clay (3/4 strength) Windows - Powder coated White birch (alternative - barrister white) I know you said jasper is too dark for a roof and will fade, but, we don't really have a choice here. Will a jasper roof look good with dune gutters, fascia and garage door? And, can we still stick to nile clay and birch white windows? Could you please let me know what you think? Thanks. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 14Dec 28, 2007 9:17 am Sandra…..it’s the first time I’ve heard Dune to be a problem. ![]() Do you live near an airfield, or do planes pass right over your or close to your property? I will take a look at this later for you…out for the day. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 15Dec 28, 2007 6:17 pm Sandra….Jasper and Dune will complement each other well! ![]() Don’t get me wrong….I love JASPER! It’s the one colour out of all the CB colours that I think has appeal and depth! ALL dark colours fade faster, so what can you do. If you have to, then go with it. But honestly….I would check with council regulations yourself first. Otherwise… go with your new selections there fine as well. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 16Dec 28, 2007 6:38 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 17Dec 31, 2007 9:38 am Thks Michelle. We will speak to our council, not sure why they won't allow white/off-white roofs. We're not in any flight paths and not close to the airport either.
I've seen a few houses with jasper roofs, it does look quite good. Will go with jasper if they don't allow dune. Thks for your help, much appreciated. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 18Jan 01, 2008 4:37 pm I've done a few searches on google and found out that some estates do not allow white/off-white colorbond roofs because councils have received complaints about the glare from white roofs.
What I need to find out though, is whether dune is considerd off-white. Re: Our exterior colours - what do you think? 19Jan 01, 2008 5:14 pm As a colour consultant I consider Dune to be not of the whites, not even close.
But when dealing with council I have also found they seem to have their own set of rules with colour! I remember going into battle for a client over their colour selection for their home in Kangaroo Valley. After first taking it up with council and giving the guy an ear full, I sent my clients into council with the A4’s of all the colours chosen for their exterior to show him. Once he saw the colours he was ok with the selection, he was only judging the colours tones by their names!!!!! I told him to get himself a professional on staff, as I didn’t want to have to go down this track every time I did a colour selection in the Valley! But your Dune….is a well known colour……this should not be considered as a white. ![]() Colours that should be a worry for glare would be- 1) Surfmist 2) Shalegrey 3) Paperbark 4) and possibly Classic Cream.
