If you are frequent entertainers, have the available space, can afford it, and would see yourself using it a lot then why not have one. On the other hand, friends of mine bought a house with a bar in it and all it does is collect clutter and dust and is a waste of space to the point they are planning on removing it. I pesonally think they are a bit cheesey but each to their own. Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 4Jun 28, 2010 6:54 pm Thanks guys:) We both love people in our house and as our current house was too small, we tend to go friend's house more often then inviting them over. My partner doesn't drink but I do...very often... as a 23 year old girl haha (maybe that's why I get along with his friends better than he does.. haha) We're ok with the bar itself just doesn't know where to start... whether to get builders to do one(just like kitchen) or get completed kit from furniture shop and just chuck it in after HO or.... I just don't have a clue:( and I'd love to see REAL pictures not the one we get from googling...non-realistic ones.. haha Cheers Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 5Jun 28, 2010 7:04 pm We have a half wall dividing our dining room and pool room. We're looking for a nice big chunk of red gum... instant bar Bars dont have to be full on a pricey Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 7Jun 28, 2010 9:15 pm What like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 8Jun 28, 2010 9:24 pm We had a bar in first house which DH built after we moved in. It fitted pretty well into our second place and then because it was not a fixed item was easy to get rid of once we got to a point where it didn't suit our lifestyle anymore. I'd be tempted to go for Erin's timber slab arrangement or a post build cabinet that could be converted to something else unless you do a lot of entertaining at home/ are post little kiddies. In our case DH doesn't drink anymore and isn't that social a person so a bar would be a total waste of space in our new home. oo awesome bar. love it Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 9Jun 28, 2010 9:32 pm I think the kids like it and a few of the games Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 10Jun 29, 2010 10:21 am We are putting in a bar as well in our large rumpus room, but still haven't decided on a style yet We had the plumbers run water points to where we are going to put it so that we can have a sink. Lisa- Finally in our house!!! Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 11Jun 29, 2010 10:45 am Have a look at Big Red's building thread (do a search) - I'm sure his plans include a bar. Or ten. Nice bar, Onc! Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 12Jun 29, 2010 11:36 am Thanks guys. that's great. I like Suh's bar and that was exactly kind of thing I was after . I'm leaning towards to having one in alfresco if my dog doesn't run all over my alcohol. Am I allowed to have bi-fold windows to close off alfresco as needed? or ....do I need "council approval" for that? sigh.. bl00dy council. oh just in case you guys would be wondering how my dog looks like...hehe (sorry it's like mums with baby trying to show off how cute the baby is to everyone hehe) my boy is really cute! His name is Lotto... hehe supposed to bring us some luck! (so Asian...I am ) maybe 50M this week? There was a bar, shower and my computer setup downstairs, got quite cold in winter, but that just made the computer run better. :/ Re: Does anyone have a BAR in their house? 16Jun 29, 2010 5:11 pm I had to look quite a few times to figure out whether that was a house or a pub... At fist I thought it was a pub...seriously until I saw the TV... in the living room (I assumed haha) That's awesome....!
