Well... I work in the communications and networking industry and have done several major comms projects around australia.
I will definitely say that wireless network connection has become a lot better these days and is very reliable. 95% of the people will be very satisfies with a 54 meg or 108 meg connection wirelessly. Some people may require recording high definition over the network and this may be an issue at times.
That being said, you still require to install your satellite and television cables, to each room you require. There is no wireless for this.
So i would recommend to consider your wiring of satellite and television cables around your house, during your build. Where as most people will be just fine with the wireless routers and the coverage and stability provided by these devices for network connection.

Wireless is good for the end devices such as PC etc, however smart wiring is much more than that. Lots of equipment now days needs connections and smart wiring is all about providing for these as much as it is for PC's.
