Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Help with timber flooring... 22Sep 07, 2010 9:49 am We're using timber just on our stairs and the upstairs landing as a feature to break up the polished concretes. The first step is a large feature square which will be done in stone (at this stage, unless we need to cut in from the budget). What is the best timber to use on stairs? Are there any in particular that are higher recommended because they are more hardwearing for such a high traffic area? Re: Help with timber flooring... 23Sep 10, 2010 11:51 am Hey Lauren and Richard, Yes I found you guys on an other post and I replied to that - your block is the gateway to the golf course...very nice! Big Block too! We were down there the other week mowing our block ready for the builder and I don't think you have started building just yet - is that right? We are from Sydney (making the move also!) I have looked on your blog and I don't know how to comment on it (I'm not the best with computers!) - but it looks awesome - I love your house too. Very exciting! Well with the timber I wanted a hard density timber as I have seen the damage that high heels can do to people floors!! I have just had a company give me quotes on blackbutt timber actually and their pricing was pretty good. A lady who I met on this forum (she is building at Haywards Bay) told me to go to www.serviceseeking.com.au and you post the project you want (so I postd I wanted a quote for hard density real timber supplied and installed, I attached my plans and told them the rooms I wanted done) and then different companies contact you and give you their quotes. We got a great quote from insight flooring, I can give you their contact details if you want to have a chat to them. They are on facebook too so you can see some of their work. I'm on facebook too if you want to find me and we can throw ideas around etc. if you want. Kristen Bale is my name. I'm such a dag! Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15905 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed. It's currently sitting on a 100mm thick concrete perimeter (dirt floor… 0 6467 Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated.
