Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 21, 2010 4:26 pm Hi guys. getting wonderful info here all the time. really appreciated! We've extended our WIR to around 6m long but I still don't think it'll fit all my stuff...even if I keep my 80 pairs of shoes in the garage storage... Yes, I have lots of clothing....LOTs... haha Just trying to figure out how wide does WIR have to be for me to fit in customised fittings on both side of the wall? well, for argument sake, just the rails...perhaps. Anyone with rails on each side of the wall? something similar to this but obviously doesn't need to be this wide. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ thanks! Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 3Jun 21, 2010 4:53 pm Ours has rails either side (his side and her side ) , and a 700mm door into the middle - I just measured it and is just over 2m wide, x 2.5 m long - hehehe, obviuosly I dont have that many clothes and I just counted my pairs of shoes, of which I have the grand total of 15 pairs. Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 4Jun 21, 2010 4:54 pm Hi kyton. thanks for the reply:) so if I were to fit 2 of them ...would be 1200mm plus space in between so would have to be at least...1800mm or so...right? I better go check my plan now:) thanks Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 5Jun 21, 2010 4:56 pm We have layed out our wir robe to have a his & hers side. 2280 wide & 3200 deep. We could have run more storage along the back but we choose not too as I want to put a stool in there. I would not go much shorter in width I find this size works well as it gives you room to get changed plus not trip over each other in the morning when you are both using the robe Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 6Jun 21, 2010 5:03 pm Hey guys thanks a lot! that helped heaps ok..2280mmm..that's quite wide. im trying to justify myself saying 6m long is good enough but I don't think so. I think ours will be somewhere between 1.5m width.... room size is 4.8x4.7....we're getting king size bed so don't really wanna go down in size but we may have to for the bigger WIR.. hmmmmmm:( dilemma again! Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 7Jun 21, 2010 5:07 pm That photo you posted would be a fairly large room. Our dressing room is 3.5m x 3.2m and is not as large as that. Bit hard to show you the exact space due to the doorway.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. Re: How wide does WIR have to be to have fittings on both si 8Jun 21, 2010 5:09 pm If you have 6000 length & 1500 wide. you could go standart size for hanging on one side an a narrow storage on the other for shoes and bags etc. Talk to some wardrobe fitters they have great ideas to make the most of any space.
