Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 20, 2010 8:34 am Hello, Would love some advice on our situation. I went and had a look at our house yesterday and have only just realised the builder has laid the wrong tiles through our entry, kitchen and dining areas! They've used the same tiles as the bathroom & laundry areas. Our builder was hoping to do our PCI this week or next, so we're getting close to the end now (and we can't wait to move in). Has anyone had this happen before? Can we make the builder rip up the incorrect tiles and re-lay the tiles we had chosen and if so, how long will that take??? The tiles we had chosen were cream gloss coloured, and now we've got light brown/taupe matte coloured ones. Thanks ZB Re: Builder has laid wrong tiles 2Jun 20, 2010 9:28 am Hi zb73, If the builder/tiler has installed the incorrect tiles that were not what you signed in your contract, then you have every right to ask for them to be ripped up and replaced with the correct ones as per contract. I have no idea how long it will take, but it may delay your PCI and handover. Can you afford a delay or are you willing to 'live with it', is a question you may be faced with. I was lucky with my builder that the tiler rang me to confirm colour choice and laying direction before he did anything. He then rang me again to let me know they had delivered the wrong wall tiles for the laundry and what I wanted to do about it. Email your builder/SS straight away, but recheck all of your signed documents to be absolutely sure. Good luck, and I hope everything works out for you. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Our builder just arranged for the tiles to be ripped up and replaced with the correct tiles. With that many tiles, I hope they didn't believe it to be the same ones, for they would of had to schedule/pre-order them to get the right amount. A delay is better than wrong tiles. Good luck.
