Guess the upside is that when i move into my home in a couple of weeks time the other builder will have to hit their pocket and get a new one erected (not the same fencing companies either). Although I had planned to get the new fence erected straight away.........??? Re: construction fence 7Oct 19, 2007 11:27 am We have found the same thing. We were the first to build so we had to fork out for all 4 sides (its not cheap - $1,635). Our neighbours on either side have since started after us so they only require 3 sides. The fencing is a joke anyway 'cause I have yet to see a building company secure the fencing when they leave each day. I agree.. when you finish building your builder will remove the temporary fence.. forcing the neighbours builder to erect a fence which the neighbour will have paid for anyway. I would wait until your neighbour finishes building before construction of the final fence. Otherwise it may get damaged during construction. This fence you definitely only pay half for. Re: construction fence 10Oct 19, 2007 11:41 am I guess it's a litigation issue.. keeping people off building sites to prevent injury. That sort of thing.
Im surprised QLD hasn't gone litigation mad like other states. Re: construction fence 12Oct 19, 2007 12:10 pm Al And it makes it a tad harder for people to run away with your timber/bricks/tiles/doors/whatever can fit in the back of the car etc. That's right! In broad daylight, anyway. So then people end up rocking up to building sites after midnight, then scaring the people who live next door because they hear footsteps and pieces of wood being dragged along the ground and loaded on to the back of ute. Sometimes you even get so freaked out because you don't hear the footsteps. Only the dragging sounds of the wood. One could almost think the wood were moving themselves. You could easily steal the fence whilst nicking the other stuff. Thats what insurance is for which we.. errr the builder pays for. Re: construction fence 14Oct 19, 2007 12:58 pm Unfortunately it's not just the builders who choose to use the fencing. Our developer has it strictly mentioned in the guidelines that we need to have them for the durationof the building process.
They also drive around to check I have also noticed that PD have a security guard that drives around our estate to visually check on houses that are being built... The guy didn't get out of the car, but he drove up our street. I thought that was sort of good... Better than nothing, i suppose..... [sneakersss] Re: construction fence 17Oct 19, 2007 1:14 pm Hey Sallyho, i was just thinking, can you chat with your developer about the fencing issue?
Maybe they can shed some unbiased light on the situation. They must have it happen often..... Re: construction fence 19Oct 19, 2007 2:38 pm Jac08 The fencing is a joke anyway 'cause I have yet to see a building company secure the fencing when they leave each day. Our builder took us into a home that was being constructed by them - it was the same one we are interested in. The gate was padlocked shut - but we got in by lifting out one of the ends of the gate from it's concrete foot! I asked whether that seemed like a waste - the builder said that the fence had to be locked somewhere for insurance purposes - but it didn't state that it had to be secure all the way around Re: construction fence 20Oct 19, 2007 4:08 pm i'm glad we done have the construction security fence issue over in the west sounds like more money your paying that you dn't need to be, just another way for the builder to make more money Building again . . with Redink Pre-start 04/12 Keys - 03/13 Finishing off. . .
