Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 19, 2010 1:39 pm Hi everyone, Just wondering if theres anyone in here thats also building a house at ViewPoint Estate Bass Hill. Thought it be a good opportnity to 'meet' the neighbours early, before the constuction stage begins. Also thought it be a good place to trade contacts, stories, experiences etc and so we can help each other out if one of us encounter a problem with one of the 3 builders for example. Another handy thing is if one of us is quoted one price, and another is quote a higher price, then we can notify each other of any differences, so that we can all be prepered and get the best price from the builder. kind regards, Drew Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 2Oct 16, 2010 9:51 pm Hi Drew, We are also building at Viewpoint - 'Benham' with Rawson homes. What about you? So far everything is going ok. Due to go to council soon (we hope!). Have you started to build yet? We drive by the estate every few days and it's so exciting to see other people's houses going up... can't wait for our turn. Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 3Nov 15, 2010 7:16 pm Hi Guys, we are also building in Bass Hill. We are building the Cambridge with Eden Brae. Has anyone started yet? We have only got our land escavated. And ofcourse the rain starts... Question... did everyone have to submit a landscaping plan done by a landscape architect to Bankstown Council? What stage are you guys at? Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 4Jan 03, 2011 11:01 pm Hi Zigy, We havent yet begun excavating our lot. Still working out our internal selections. Regarding the landscaping, Rawson did all that on our behalf. Did you have to do that part yourself? Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 5Jan 03, 2011 11:04 pm Hey Drew, Your house looks like it's ready or almost ready. I see the landscaping is done. Is that the final stage or do you have internal work to be completed? When do you anticipate on moving in? How exciting! Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 6Jan 04, 2011 10:56 pm Hi newbie2010, yeah almost finished, theres quite a few things im not happy with including the landscaping. Need to speak with the ss when he returns on the 17th to get them fixed. everything will hopefully be done by mid Feb, fingers crossed. they sure do go up quick once the concrete slab is poured. I remembered way back when, i was just taking photos of a dirt, dirt and dirt, and that was exciting enough. are any of you guys also building along the Plaza wall. im curious to know if we are allowed to do anything to it. (by that i mean hang stuff on it, or paint it etc) I usually pop by after work on fridays, just to check on the progress. if you see me there, drop by for a chat lol. we can start our very own neighbour hood watch lol Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 7Jan 05, 2011 11:56 am Hi Zigy, re: landscaping, same as newbie2010 Rawson took care of that. The company they recommended was EcoDesign. I heard that some others who went with either a different Landscape company or did it themselves, that some of them had their submissions rejected by council cause it did not abide by the estate requirements, and so they had to spend extra money to get the landscaping plans redone, which equals time delays. Thats why Rawson recommended EcoDesign, since they know the estate requirements of what needs to be included in the submission. kind regards -drew Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 8Jan 05, 2011 12:00 pm This thread has caught my eye! I grew up at Bass Hill, many moons ago. Where abouts is the estate? So bascially my house is being built on land where teens use to make out. And to pay 'homage' to the late Greater Union Drive in Cinema. Two of the roads are being called 'Greater Circuit' and 'Union Way' clever or cheesy, you can decide Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 10Jan 05, 2011 12:55 pm Yep, know the spot well! I went to Birrong Girls High, even though there was a high school right across the road from the drive-in and I would have been able to wak to school in stead of catching a train! Hopefully it can be rectified quickly for you. Our property doesn't back onto the plaza wall. Ours will be facing Johnston Rd (one property away from the plaza). We are in the final stages of working out our interiors and hope to 'break ground' in the next few weeks. Soooo many decisions!!! Will lookout for you at the estate. Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 12Jan 12, 2011 3:49 pm Hi, Yeah its nothing serious, the landscaper just put bark chips where grass was supposed to be, and moved some plants around. So basically im just going to bring it up with my SS next week, and ask them to fix it according to the plan which was agreed upon. I just find it a little rude that they didnt even bother to ask me if they could change the landscaping, thats all. good luck with the interiors, it good to have an idea before you have your appointment with the colour consultant. Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 13Jan 13, 2011 10:39 pm i didn't know that we got any imput with the landscaping plans! Do u get a say into what types of grass and plants you wanted in your gardens? We have put heaps of thought into our interiors - it was just a matter of waiting for the quotes to come back and see if our budget covered it all!!! Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 14Jan 14, 2011 8:15 pm hi you can customise your landscaping quite a bit (especially the back yard) The estate requirements only apply to the front -grey driveway -hedge of plants -brick letterbox -fencing etc they recommend plants, but then you choose which you want, and you get the final say other than that the landscaping is up to your imagination. Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 15Jan 16, 2011 5:39 pm Hi We are also building at viewpoint. Does anyone have a rough idea how long it will take to finish the inside of a double storey house once we are at lockup? The builder says the whole thing should take 6 months but our contract says 7 and 1/2 months. Re: View Point Estate - Bass Hill 17Mar 31, 2011 7:47 pm Hey Drew (spaceinvader2.0), Your place looks complete now! have you moved in yet? We have noticed that about four homes have occupants - that's so exciting to see! Did you have any major problems with your home's construction?
