Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 18, 2010 10:43 pm This is my first try at a blog for our new house so hopefully I get it right! We are building the Flinders 331 Savanah facade choice with DFH. This is our second DFH so we were obviously impressed the 1st time round so thats why we have picked them again. We are building in Harrisons View in Laurimar. We originally signed with Grace at the Epping office in the start of Feb and received our contracts and signed them on 8/6/10. We were happy with how great the contracts were but a bit shocked with the price of the P class slab (nearly 15,000) and the quote for the stacker door of over $6000. This was rectified with putting in a very small pillar on the corner which reduced the door to $1500. We had our colour booking with Charlotte on the 15/6/10 and these are the colours we have choosen. Bricks- Austral Hawthorn with off white mortar rolled Boral Gunmetal slimline roof tiles Colorbond Jasper Guttering Classic Cream Fascia Timber windows to front of house in Moccha stain from Haymes Jasper windows to remainder of house Timberlook Decro door in Chestnut Timber Hume front door with transluscent glass in Moccha Caesarstone benches for Kitchen in Raw Silk 40mm with waterfall end panels Parbury Colombian Walnut Kitchen cupboards with horizontal tekform flatline handles Regency Mirrored splass back to kitchen Caesarstone Osprey to ensuite and bathroom Cupboards Parbury Loft Oak We have choosen to do the flooring ourselves as I really had my heart set on 30x60 polished porcelin tiles and they will not lay that size we were advised. We choose a stone moccha tile in this shape for the walls and bath and the small 30x30 for the floors in the bathroom, ensuite, toilet and laundry. Internal Wall colours Haymes Sanctuary Doors and Skirts colour is Haymes Barely there. Exterior is Haymes Feature render Harvest Time to front portico posts and WIR return Cedar boards Haymes Timber Moccha We upgraded the cornices to Pacific Look 90mm and upgraded the skirtings and architraves to Wellhung 67x12. We were advised it takes up to 3 weeks to get the variations back with the prices for all things upgraded so we will have to see how much the damage comes to then Hopefully we will get our building contracts back this week so we can start the ball rolling on our homeloan from the bacnk. They advised to wait until we had the actual contract price after we have done all the variations. I will start posting pictures as this progresses Re: Building the Flinders 331 with Dennis Family Homes 2Jun 18, 2010 11:30 pm Hi Hurley80, Welcome to Homeone. We also are building with DFH, as are many others on here. Your colours sound really nice. Hope to hear more from you as things progress. We do our colours next week. Have most of them already picked out. Will change some that I have listed on our thread. We also had a shock at price for 2 staker doors to meet in the middle. Like you we hope to put in narrow pillar to reduce price a lot. All these extras we have done so far are going to cost a fortune. Ah, well you only live once.
