Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 18, 2010 8:40 pm Hi everyone, My first post Anyways we are building the Monterey Q1 with Henley, at this point in time the frame is up, windows in, roof ready to go on. Im just wondering if anyone else is building with henley and are they much faster than the contract end date they give you? We built 2 years ago with simmonds and have sold, now building again, in the mean time we are living with the parents... we are soo keen for the house to be ready as we will be starting to try for a family as soon as we move in. would love to hear your experiences building with henley Re: Building with Henley - are they quick? 2Jun 18, 2010 9:34 pm We're up to day 246 of our 270 day contract. We just had PCI on Thursday and are expecting key within 2 weeks. The last 10 weeks or so the house has been sitting 99% complete. The first part went very quick, after lock up it really dragged on Re: Building with Henley - are they quick? 3Jun 18, 2010 9:50 pm I'm interested in the answer to this one too. JBridge, we are also building with Henley and are at the exact same stage as you. Our frame is complete and gutters went on today. The slab was laid less than 2 weeks ago so they have been very quick up to this point. Our admin said it should take about 5 months, though our contract also states 270 days. Building with Henley In Melbourne's South East Slab June 7th 2010 Frame Completed June 15th Nearly at Lock-up! Re: Building with Henley - are they quick? 5Jun 19, 2010 10:05 am You wouldn't want them to be too quick, but to do a thorough job! I built with them last year, and although I built a double storey which takes longer than single, it was completed in 7 months, 3 months ahead of schedule. My contract time was 320 days. I did have to wait 3 weeks for the brickies to finish another job, and then take an extended break over Easter, but it worked out in the end! A lot will depend on your SS and his organisation skills! If there are things that go wrong, it may delay things even further. We had the wrong pot drawers in the kitchen installed, but because I identified it straight away, the roughly 6 weeks it took to get the proper ones didn't delay our handover date at all. There could be delays in bricks depending on what style you choose, or a shortage of tradies. There are many things that can delay the build...even the weather. But seeing as though you've built before, you know what can go wrong! The beginning always is quick, as something changes almost on a daily basis and all of a sudden you have a house! After lock-up mine seemed to drag too, and like Erin, ours seemed 'almost' complete for weeks and weeks. My experience is on my blog and build thread in my sig. Feel free to read!
