Hi Folks,
You may remember me from the SA Building thread
We have purchased a nice 540sqm block of land in the Field River Estate at Trott Park. We were very lucky to get one of these blocks, as I have heard there was a lot of people interested in them! It's located perfectly at the top of the hill, and has a really nice view at the moment but once houses start going up I guess we'll loose that unless we get on the roof
We've been dealing with Fairmont to build, they're doing good deals on houses in this estate because their sister company RealtySA are the ones selling the land. We got a few grand knocked off to do it as a house/land style package If anyone would like to know the name of our salesperson, feel free to send me a PM and I would be happy to reccomend him. He's done a lot of work for us and has been very easy to work with.
The plan we have gone for is a modified Leabrook Mk3. We like the plan, but when we went to the display home we didn't like the big WIR's that stuck out into the passage and the useless cloak room (who uses a cloak room?!), so we dropped those off, 'borrowed' the ensuite and WIR from another Fairmont design, and opened up the entrance way to give a much larger feeling of space. This left us with the front lounge being a bit too long, so we modified the smaller WIP to take up the space and it's now also a hidden entrance to the Garage. Should be enough room in here to put down a home-brew or two as well
In our current house my 'garage' is too small, my car currently lives at my parents house. The Garage in this place is going to be my space, for my street car, race car and race kart, so we have extended a bit and made it wide as possible too. We set the garage down 512mm to hopefully reduce the amount of cut/fill for the rest of the house, but the downside is more cutting under the Garage though! The slab in the Garage is also specced so that I can install a 2 post car-lift as well - they're not too expensive so why not
We've bumped right into the upper limit of the Marion Council block coverage, we had to reduce the size of the house from what we had expanded it to so that it would fit under this number which was a bummer. I had an extra 7 square meters in the Garage before that Oh well.. I think it's a bit larger than a standard Leabrook Mk3 at the moment, though.
I got my ultimate home garage, so Mel had a Spa put in the main bathroom too Just a small one, but she's happy with it
Here's our floorplan as it was signed off:
