Browse Forums Building A New House Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 21Jun 27, 2010 1:42 pm That's really terrible service our castle! Hopefully todays sunshine will translate for the rest of the week and they will finally get off their butts! Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 22Jun 27, 2010 1:51 pm I share your pain. Our site was cut 19/5, tap installed but due to weather nothing else done. The slab was meant to have been done by end of June. Site is too muddy to install electrics/piping/prep for slab. The soil turns to a sticky clay mess when it's wet. Ahhh, I guess this time of year is not an ideal time to build. However, can the rain dancers just take a break for a few days to let our site dry out a bit Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 23Jun 27, 2010 5:15 pm Rowena I share your pain. We were very lucky and got our slab pour on the 11/06/2010 just before the big rains started. Hope it all goes well for you! Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 25Jun 27, 2010 7:59 pm You and me both Rowena! We have been out there mowing etc today and there's not much water sitting on the cut site, so I'll be optimistic that the plumber (who is MIA.....) will turn up tomorrow to get the pre slab stuff done...... Once the building started all the anxiety just left my body! And I just can't wait to get in there and make this house a home! Fingered crossed for you Dee!!! Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 27Jun 27, 2010 8:23 pm Thanks Flaggie-at least if the build does take forever my trees will be growing! Maybe I'll move into the chook shed! Not looking good this week!! Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 30Jun 28, 2010 9:45 pm Well, when I was at our block at lunchtime (in radiant sunshine...) there was NO-ONE there! No plumber, no guys doing my shed slab......and of course about 3pm the heavens opened again! I'm thinking of building an ark instead of a house..... Unfortunately they weren't doing anything. As we are on stumps we have a strip footing that is below ground level, this makes our footings a really nice river and water collector. They don't want to brick until it is dry, however they were planning on different ways to make the footing dry. They have 2.5 days worth of bricking to do before anyone else can get on site and we have had bricks sitting on site for almost two months now. Hopefully the "showers" forecast for the rest of the week don't amount to much and things can happen. Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 35Jul 02, 2010 9:57 pm Nearly 4 weeks and counting from when our slab was supposed to be laid Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 36Jul 02, 2010 10:02 pm our castle Nearly 4 weeks and counting from when our slab was supposed to be laid That's terrible! Have they atleast got the foundations in place? Or is it still just sitting there? I can't remember winter being this wet usually.... our house is all built, but the block is still a building site and we cant get a bob-cat in to level it without it being bogged in all the mud....so we wait....and wait...... and wait..... Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... Which I find annoying, can't understand why they can't get it all set up ready to lay, then when there is a fine day they can just pour it. GGGRRRR! Re: VIC Builders - Rain Rain Go Away 40Jul 03, 2010 6:24 pm Awww.... feeling for ya castle. Real bummer when theres delays... I've got a challenge here. Background is the builder has cut too deep for the slab and the slab is now below the very substantial retaining wall. It's failed occupancy… 0 16473 Hi, does anyone have any experience with using Trex rain escape or EPDM rubber to waterproof a deck so you have dry space underneath. Popular in the US and realize that… 0 2641 Yes you are correct, unless there are outside works which form part of the contract such as landscaping or driveways, and importantly, the work delayed is on the critical… 1 2557 |
