Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2010 7:51 pm We've just received our first progress payment request from the builder. I noticed that the progress payment amount requested in the letter is about $1500 higher than the amount stipulated in the contract. Re: Progress payment question 2Jun 16, 2010 7:57 pm Unlikely , but does it include any outstanding deposit ? But your correct , the progress payments should be laid out for you in contract, and the only one that varies is the final cos the site estimates may change ( they are rarely lower ) Timeline Aug 08-Land Mar 09-Demo/Titles Sept 10-Handover No1 Sept 11-Handover No2 April 12-Sold No2 Aug 14-Land/Demo Jan 15-Slabs viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25736 Re: Progress payment question 3Jun 16, 2010 7:57 pm Did you have any upgrades that added to the cost of your build. For example at selections we had 10000 dollars worth of upgrades. So when we get each progress payment it is about 2000 more than what is written because our upgrade costs are split across the 5 progress payments. Re: Progress payment question 4Jun 16, 2010 8:04 pm Assuming you mean structural upgrades , cos anything added at prestart gets paid for when done, that wont include slab stage. But builders vary like a mad womans knitting. They are in breach of Domestic Building Act 1995 if they do so otherwise. Although check to see if you haven't signed a waiver that changes the progess payment schedule. Any additional charges should be sent to you as a variation and should only be paid on final payment. regardless, your contract stipulates a payments schedule and SOPA doesn't give provision to that scenario.
