Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2010 3:58 pm Our bricklayer has been delayed and so our builder has said that the plasterers and carpenters as well as the fitting of our kitchen will go ahead before the bricks are laid...this has us a little worried because of the weather damaging the internal walls, etc as there is nothing to protect them. It will almost be a full week before the bricklayers start, and that's if they start on time. Has anybody else struck this? Would really like some advice to hear if there is any logistics in doing the internal before bricks? Thanks! Re: internal fit out before bricks? 2Jun 16, 2010 4:00 pm They started our bricks then ran out, so they did the internals why they waited. A collegue at work is having similar, the bricks won't be delivered for ages, so they have wrapped the house in plastic and are doing all the internal work. Re: internal fit out before bricks? 3Jun 16, 2010 4:20 pm If it rains for the whole week that the brickies are not in then start to worry. Re: internal fit out before bricks? 4Jun 16, 2010 4:35 pm netadelle, did you have any problems with moisture with the internal walls? There is plastic wrap on the walls at the moment, but I don't know how weather proof it is... I guess it's the builder's call really...if everything gets wet, then its on them to cover it and replace it? Re: internal fit out before bricks? 5Jun 16, 2010 4:48 pm We are in the same boat- our internal is pretty much to lock up but the bricking is not finished. Thankfully the bricking is now about 3/4 done and the brickies actually even worked on saturday which is the first time ever so obviously they are trying their best to get it all done. Our plaster hasn't gone in yet thankfully, but I'm guessing it's not too far away considering the electrician is there today. Lisa- Finally in our house!!!
