Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 14, 2010 11:12 pm Hi everyone, I've just come across this forum and thought it may be a good way to get some information on DFH. My husband and I are building the Beaufort 211 in Tarneit (Melbourne's west). Originally we wanted to build the Columbia 211 because it's basically the aspirations version (or the version with less inclusions) of the Beaufort. We changed our minds and stuck with the Beaufort, so a new contract had to be drawn up and two months ago we paid our deposit and signed the initial paperwork for our contract. We have had a lot of problems getting answers back on questions and queries and I have heard that a lot of people had this problem with DFH. My questions are; How long did the contract take to finalise? How long did it then take to begin building? And how long was the buidling process? I must say their office staff and our sales consultant was a little slack to say the least (not all office staff but most definatly some) after all our trouble with local council: our council need planning permit some councils dont that took us a long time but in late June 2009 we signed our inital forms for them to draw up the contract it took until Novemeber to come back unfortunatly for us the house was sited wrong and we had to baisicaly start again we got the amened plans back all finished after several attempts in March this year, we got our comencment of building letter on the 7th of April , building started in May we are now up to our frame stage, I must say that even though we had a lot of trouble along the way it was with the office staff and now that building is happening they are going out of their way to do what they do best.. I think if you can get over that then its all good and I love their plans its a personal choice and I think all builders have some sort of problems along the way soots viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: What was your experience building with Dennis Family Hom 3Jun 14, 2010 11:29 pm Hey there, We're building with Dennis also. We're actually building in the Columbia in Tarneit. Which estate are you in? Anyway, our experience with Dennis so far has been ok. The initial estimate signing and help was great, we had a really helpful sales consultant. But we have been waiting a long time for the contracts and our colour appointment. We signed our initial estimate on the 27th of March, and we're still waiting for the contracts. Apparently they'll be ready early July, and our colour selections will be in July too. So to answer your first question - a long time, probably about 3 months. I can't answer your other questions because we haven't gotten that far! But apparently the pre-contract wait is the worst part. Re: What was your experience building with Dennis Family Hom 4Jun 15, 2010 8:13 am Hi Krytak, We are about the same stage as you and Lealicious. We are building the Charlton 291. We do our colours on the 24th June and have been told our initial contract is about 9th July. From there it will go back for final changes and then final contract papers. Probably wont start building till Sept according to our sales lady. As long as you like the design you will be happy in the end. Hang in there. Kay A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. We signed our initial yep we want to build a house here's $1000 contract on the 6th of Jan this year, we signed our contracts on the 24th of April and did out colour consult on the 9th of June. We have been held up with the developer at the moment. We haven't had any problems with the Sales consultant or or admin person getting back to us in a timely manner which is great!
