We did our own site survey and soil test before we decided which builder to go with. It took almost a year for us to decide which builder to go with so we thought might as well get these going to save some time When we finally decided who to go with, builder told us they still need to get this done at their end no matter what....even though our survey was done to the full. I never know why but that's just what they need to comply. Also the thing is your building contract, the base price includes all these test cost, so it's not an additional cost and more than likely builder won't reimuburse this cost back to you just because you've paid for them . so no point spending twice , in a way. Just get them to organise it and sit back and relax... Re: Doing your own soil test and site survey 3Jun 14, 2010 12:07 pm We did our own soil test and survey, as we bought the land subject to satisfactory results. Our builder then did his own test and survey before building commenced. We used a local company to do ours and paid around $600 for both. Hope that helps. The builder will do another one after demolition. Just incase if the builder comes back and says that our slab went from M to H. We want to do one to make sure that it is M or H.
