I got very nervous when I first started reading the forum about all the pricing inconsistencies... but I have chilled out more now Renee - THANK YOU !!! I was going to say that I am due to start construction very soon and if you can wait 2 months or so then I can show you pictures of sirius cove. We haven't seen it up anywhere either but it was the only brick we liked without upgrading.. and it is very similar to PGH aluminium which we loved. So i dont think you can go wrong with a light-mid grey brick. But just depends what you're into and I think mainly it depends on what suits your facade. The affinity was moroka beautiful colour a light grey so we tried to mimmick that as we've seen our facade in those colours. Anyway - let me know when your deadline is for all this stuff. Oh the colour selection was FANTASTIC. It's like being a kid in a lolly shop. I love interior design and so it was just perfect getting to choose everything! BZMZ - that is so kind of you, thank you. 2 months... We definitely won't be out of Council in that time, but I am hoping we will have submitted before then (which includes nominating a brick...). But I will still be watching your build VERY closely My main concern with Sirius Cove, and a few others, is that it is a red clay brick coloured on the outside, not solid colour... I love the Affinity on display (tried to get the same door but no-one could tell me the dimensions and it didn't seem to be 820 or 1200 standard, more like 1000 or so). But I am trying to get out to Warwick Farm before returning to work, so will pay particular attention to the Moroka on the Affinity. Thanks for the tip! Oh, and we haven't booked in for colours yet. Our process is a bit unusual. But I think its more important when they are doing construction not to chip the bricks. I think I will be a little general when they are brick laying if I can be there. That is our only concern but i have driven around my area and I'm SURE its sirus cove i've seen as there is some brown underneath but it is still totally grey and looks fine. We are thinking if we dont like it or get sick of it in 5 years time can always Moroka cuz we didnt upgrade on the bricks anyway. Ohh I'm getting the Affinity front door! I think they might have high ceilings though (are you having 9 ft or 8 ft??) but at colour selections they go through the book with you and ask you what front door you want etc explaining how your standard door will look. As we're having a 1200 wide front door we upgraded to the affinity front door and it was SOO CHEAP! It cost us only $120 to get the same door as Affinity which is called Hume Savoy XS26 and we stained it. We were over the moon with that price. I have the affinity colour selection sheet if you want a copy? I got a few of the homes from them so I could copy colours. Good luck I"m sure you will make the right decision and luckily time is on your side. Just do all the research you can it sounds like you already have and you'll go with a beautiful brick I'm sure!! I thought only certain bricks could have Moroka over them. But you know, I have brick frenzy on the brain, so I could be confused. I think it has to do with the underlying texture. For example, I think we were told that we couldn't moroka over wirecut bricks, which of course our PGH Loam and PGH Cement both are. To be honest, now that our house is built (externals at least) I think I would have been happy with anything. I see so many new houses in different colours around our place and they all look lovely. It's just when you have a specific picture in your head that you hope the reality matches it. LOL There is a house a few blocks away from our place that has an absolutely gorgeous colours scheme. All muted greys and creams. I wish I'd really paid attention to it when we were picking external colours (I think they were still building at the time) - every time I drive past I take a second glance and sigh. We went by this new masterton home yesterday that we have been watching the build of, and they were moving in!! We were sure it was sirius cove bricks and they told us it was. It looks just BEAUTIFUL. I'm really happy with it. They were so lovely to let us inside their new home and show us around! But to finally see Sirius Cove!! Sunshine, I was wishing I had my camera with me so I could show you. But I will go by and take a photo soon now that I know! Yes flush mortar is the way to go. it also is the modern style and as my parents said - means that wasps etc cant build their nests in between the bricks (although they will probably find an eave or something) but still, stops bugs from creating homes inside. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41002 Re: Custom with Masterton: Final plans - FINALLY! 98Aug 06, 2010 7:35 pm So..... we FINALLY have our final plans!! Well, final design plans it turns out. All along we thought we were finalising Council plans but there was a miscommunication internally at the design company and the egg-head doing our actual drawings didn't realise we were at Council prep stage even though we had paid the $7,700 part payment (which explains why he kept knocking back the detail we wanted to give him, and why we kept expecting more from him as we have seen many MH plans and we know the kind of detail there should be ...). Aaaaannnywaaay, below is the elevation pic. (Floor plans to follow when the omelette-brain emails us, he just gave DH hard copy print outs and forgot to give us soft copies). Thank you for all your suggestions on the windows. We decided to go the 'horizontality' look, but made the study window bigger (again thanks to some useful comments). We are also doing a double skin of bricks on the stairwell so that it protrudes from the other wall and allows us to moroka the bathroom wall downstairs ... See what you think. Numerous other little changes but I won't bore you ... Oh! And we went out to Warwick Farm yesterday. Great to get a good look again, the Villina and Affinity in particular. Just love the kitchens! I thought of BZMZ and Renee when passing the Crystal and Lizzy when walking past the Santorini (they are doing major work on the Santorini, added alfrescos, internal work and painting etc.). There is also an interesting new display, the Symphony. We were lucky to sneak into the Colour Selection room and had a good look at the garage doors (Caoba Dawn for sure), standard kitchen bench top colours and a few other things (thanks for the tip MrsRose to get the standard colours before choosing tiles). I sooooo want to get onto the fun internal colour selections! I feel like we have been at this stage forever (actually we have!). Very far behind you all, but still plugging along ...
