Re: SunshineT's Build: Robes by Jodge 2483Jul 03, 2012 11:18 am nina marie How was life at Qualia today T? thanks nina. whenever you mention Qualia it gives me a boost about our design / colour selection. DH did say he wanted to name our house, maybe we should call it "Qualia on [street name]" or "Mini Qualia" or "Qualia Try Hard" All good this end, just waiting for materials to arrive and work to be done. Bit by bit it is happening which we are happy about. jodge Oh yes. . . I'm very busy. . . and important. Yes you are. We are not great cooks (another reason why we didn't go fancy with our kitchen appliances). So unsurprisingly our window glazing did not go in today (we never really thought it would happen). Ryan if you are reading this, I know you are keen for your glazing too, but I would not put any hope / expectation on when. Andrew is not happy with the window supplier and thinking of changing due to the delays caused by the windows. Not much to report. Waterproofing was finished on Monday I think. Met Andrew and Mat on site yesterday with kitchen guy, then DH went out to see kitchen guy again today to give him detailed plans. Corinthian still haven't delivered the doors, archs and skirts, so the fitting carpenters have been pushed back as well. Basically we are in waiting mode for suppliers / materials so will give more of an update when we have progress. Gogo - you were right on the pricing. $200 for standard 450 inserts and $400 or so for the non-standard sizings etc. We have revised plans to make it more standard, which I will post later this week or next. He also measured up the theatre room doors, BBQ, Bedside tables for us and study, so it should all be installed next week Re: SunshineT's Build: Robes by Jodge 2489Jul 04, 2012 5:17 pm gogo65 Oh and T, the standard is just the dicky white plastic handle on the drawers I have asked jack for stainless bar handles, he said no problem. Good tip, thanks gogo. We are having no handles on all the bathroom and kitchen, but I hadn't thought about the robes... excellent point. Is it much of an upgrade or just part of the package? We found him incredibly reasonable and well priced, cheaper than we could get elsewhere plus it's all installed. Just best to get it done before the holes are drilled for the crappy ones. Re: SunshineT's Build: woodwork delivered... 2491Jul 04, 2012 5:35 pm so... finally, all the Corinthian woodwork was delivered today (internal doors, garage / bathroom door, architraves etc.). I was so excited, can't wait to see them on tomorrow! I am expecting a few hitches (particularly for the kids robes coz we changed last week from sliders to hinged but the communication didn't get through to Corinthian in time and the doors have wheels at the bottom. But M said they might just add on jambs to make it hinged - not sure how that will all work). Anyway, all good. Went there this arvo and put posted notes on some places (eg. no architraves on bathroom windows so it can be tiled, powder door to open in reverse to plan). Dee - spoke to builders and the bathroom / garage door and how it should open. You had suggested (and I agreed) that it should open into bathroom to toilet hidden). But what I had forgotten is that there is a step in bathroom up to the garage and builders said it would look silly swinging high one step above the floor level. so we are leaving it as per plans. Fingers crossed everything gets installed properly. Oh, and no glazing today either. Given up hoping. The window guy's wife is not well, and it seems when he is not at the office his whole business stops. Zen guys are not happy and looking to change suppliers. Just best to get it done before the holes are drilled for the crappy ones. Thanks for that gogo. Just asked DH and said absolutely we don't want the white plastic ones (he is very particular about his WIR, which you all probably know by now!). So very grateful for that heads up. Oh, today I also put the last layers of excess insulation into the bath hob as the waterproofing is finished now. Still bummed that the one day where I could have gone around filling in holes in the wall / ceiling insulation (about 2 weeks ago) was when I was so sick that I couldn't even get out of bed. Oh well. Funny story - haven't had a chance to mention this. But a few weeks ago the roof guys put our whirly birds in. We have pitched roof for half, and in the other half it is part flat skillion roof (above Great Room) and then small cavity above kitchen. Anyway, we told builder where we wanted the whirly birds, but sure enough communication just doesn't necessarily get through and the second whirly bird was installed on the skillion roof!!! Meaning, no cavity there to cool anyway, just flat roof. Insane really. But we decided just to leave it as the kitchen roof area is not that big and we were thinking of just one whirly bird anyway. But it was just more hilarious to wonder what on earth these guys were thinking when they installed it. Or rather, what they weren't thinking!!! Hence I am becoming rather zealous now about my post-it notes SunshineT's Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585 Designs start: 4/12/09 DA: 5/7/11 Demo: 22/12/11 Slab: 24/2/12 Keys: 31/8/12 Re: SunshineT's Build: woodwork delivered... 2493Jul 04, 2012 5:49 pm T, we have got our window sills tiled but be careful as not all our windows close properly as the tile gets in the way of the locking mechanism, as the windows sils/surround were made for standard. So when you open and shut the window it bangs against the tile. The carpenters are so slooooow, I hope they have sorted themselves now. Oh and all the jambs are now made on site, (which our carpenters were not happy about) a cost cutting exercise by corinthian, we still don't have all our jambs in place, so definitely shouldn't be a problem, Re: SunshineT's Build: woodwork delivered... 2494Jul 04, 2012 6:01 pm gogo65 T, we have got our window sills tiled but be careful as not all our windows close properly as the tile gets in the way of the locking mechanism, as the windows sils/surround were made for standard. Our 3 bathroom windows (we only have 3 wet areas) are one sliding and two double hung, so I wonder if they will still be affected?
