Browse Forums Building A New House Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2541Jul 06, 2012 2:27 pm They will use garage for access once at lock up, the boys like the garage doors closed so it deters thieves, so I'm sure the boys will be keeping it closed and keeping you out soon, (well once you get glass that is ) Oh yes that is true springtime, those boys at the gas company need heaps of time, DH arranged ours months ago. We also just had to get a meter number for electricity so the builder can arrange electricity to the house as well Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2542Jul 06, 2012 3:34 pm springtime Speaking of Gas T, ensure you let the gas Co know well in advance ( if you're having gas cooking etc ) when you want to be connected as when I applied ( which was one week be4 moving ) they told me it would take 6 weeks! ( builder didn't tell me I had to apply myself for the gas to be connected ) . yeah, I made enquiries about 12 months ago and was told it could take up to 40 days. So I activated the job last week (supposed to be at lock up but I didn't want to be delayed by the gas) when suddenly they came out this week and plan to do it next week! Kinda obvious what the inspiration is. The medium size is 500mm in diameter and around $270 (see here. 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2544Jul 06, 2012 4:18 pm Peta - just had a look. My, that is a striking light. Will look into it further, particularly as the price is 50% less again! That website Atelier - is that the same site that had the tiles you like? ps: I couldn't see sizings. Do you know if there are any in the next size up (ie. larger than 500mm)? Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2546Jul 06, 2012 4:32 pm SunshineT Peta - just had a look. My, that is a striking light. Will look into it further, particularly as the price is 50% less again! That website Atelier - is that the same site that had the tiles you like? Yep, when (if) we ever build, I think I will be choosing between the Whiteman protea light or the Trubridge floral light. I really like this Alex Earl orb light but when I made enquiries, it's 900mm in diameter, no stockists in NSW, cost is $2800 and freight would be $200. So that one is NOT happening. But I think it would gorgeous in the right house (thinking huge void). The tiles we like are in an independent tile shop. I know our local NH bathroom shop also has those tiles as well SunshineT ps: I couldn't see sizings. Do you know if there are any in the next size up (ie. larger than 500mm)? He does do a 700mm one, custom request. See here 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2547Jul 06, 2012 4:35 pm peta - wow, they are amazing pendants too. I also like the Leaf one... not sure it is even worth making an enquiry. I really want to stick to the $500 price range! Thanks so much... I THINK WE HAVE SIMILAR TASTE IN LIGHTS....I came up with 4 options for DH to consider when we were looking at lighting in January - the first one was the David Trubridge light (with green on the inside of course ) Check out the other 3 options I had: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As you know, DH didn't like any and we ended up getting the cheap ikea one with the idea that we will change it when we find something we can agree on. For the record, the Trubridge light with the green colour inside would be my vote for you!!! Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2550Jul 06, 2012 7:57 pm Yeah, shame DH didn't love them. We have similar taste on everything. Can't recall ever having arguments over choices in any of our 3 builds except for this - we could not agree on 1 pendant light!! CRAZY! Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2551Jul 06, 2012 8:05 pm Oh I like that protea light! I like the coral one too. Exciting getting front door on. I'm nervous about getting ours on next week too but I am just going to lock it and not give anyone the key so they can't use it anyway Have you had your flooring done yet? You're doing timber throughout, right??? Do the bedrooms have carpet? Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2553Jul 06, 2012 9:15 pm Rocketship - OMG we totally have the same taste. I love all three of those, in fact just today was looking at pendants similar to the second and third photo, plus the Protea!! Tmrw we r going to see a few distributors and hopefully make a decision! Thanks for the pics! Vess, we have Spotted Gum in Great Room, all beds plus TV have carpet and rest downstairs is tiles. So a mix. Did you call Aoun about timber floors in the end? Got a message the carpenters can't make it today, instead Mon or Tues. Not sure why. They also had to leave our job at 1pm yesterday (after installing incorrect doors and a few other mistakes). The idea was that I would talk to them about it today, but no-show. Sorry to hear no progess today T - leaves you plenty of time to check out all those pendants though. Good luck, look forward to seeing what you settle on. Hope the wrong doors get fixed quick! Re: SunshineT's Build: front door going on! 2558Jul 07, 2012 1:56 pm nina - thanks. I have been thinking of you and that you are only hours away from meeting your little bub!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you smooth sailing, joy and as much rest as possible.... greenfish - yeah, next week... so... DH and I visited a few showrooms this morning and we definitely like the Trubridge pendants. Saw some others, but the simplicity of the Trubridge ones are attractive, and decent price. The 600 dia Coral was in store for $390. The other Trubridge that we saw and loved was the Swish $640. Will think on it. We also spent some time on site (luckily my dad is visiting so we have some precious time without kidiwinks) and went through the doors. Summation: - wrong robe doors installed, so brought the correct mirrored ones into the rooms so they can be switched (which are still as sliders due to email mix up, so we removed the wheels - easy to do now, impossible once installed; they need to add hinges) - Milan sliders delivered for upstairs study (was going to have Jack's poly doors, but fine to downgrade back to Corinthian. Just easier) - CSDs installed as flush pull instead of flush jamb, so will see how we can fix that - one door damaged, but luckily there was an extra 820 door delivered so hopefully it can be switched - 4 extra doors delivered (3 CSDs and one 820) - I am sure it is because Zen were a bit lazy and just flicked on my emails which looking back would have been confusing. Lesson learnt. Rocketship - when we were looking at the Coral and the colour options, DH said we should do green inside (which is what I was going to say, but waiting for him to make comment first). So how about that!!! Hopefully it will tie in with our green (maybe) kitchen splashback and green Tropical Moss feature wall in the TV room. Otherwise, we will just do the natural bamboo.... And his response? "nah, I will just get a credit and they can come collect them. Less work for me to do". A tad lazy if you ask me.
