And the aeroplane wing https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2383Jun 25, 2012 10:39 pm SunshineT Dreamer - thanks, will go check out Umbrella Green! So here are some paint photos. Snowy Mountain on the left, Mt Aspiring on the right. We decided we wanted a little more contrast with the trims. (But not sure what colour to do the trims now! Either same as ceiling, in a gloss, or Lexicon Quarter). Here is the Pastel Toothpaste (actually called Light Ceramic) colour. Need to find a better green me thinks. And I managed to get some upstairs photos today. Very happy with how the sunlight fills the rooms. View from the kitchen Looking back into house to double sided fire place. The wall at the very far end (in the TV room) is the one that will have a feature green. It is so bright in there that I think white tiles would not be pleasing to the eye. Way to go. As for your win on 2 green feature walls that is brilliant!! I think with the fireplace going a darker olivey almost type green would look great. Sorry I don't have any paint charts so can't give you a colour name for what I mean Thanks greenfish. Yeah, I am erring towards a colour called Tropical Moss at the moment (or its lighter version Cucumber Crush or darker version Green Coconut - I love all these colour names!!) okjorg Def a deeper green for the tv room feature wall, otherwise all of that natural light is gorgeous!! The views and the colours you've chosen are very serene. Thanks okjorg - yep, definitely looking for a darker colour now. The Vans In love with those windows! And views!!! OH my I am so jealous! Thank you We are relieved that it is all turning out as we had imagined (better actually). dreamcometrue I can only echo the other comments, looks gorgeous! And the aeroplane wing cheers. I think the name "aeroplane wing" might stick scgia1 T house is looking great and the sunlight in the living areas is perfect.... Thanks SC. Still going to try to come check out your tiling this weekend... Pete_n_Pet Totally agree. Just gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see more update pics. Thanks Peta. Will definitely be posting more once we have visible progress. Mclaren OMG .... WOW ... just caught up on your pics from the weekend - how gorgeous are those rooms upstairs - so much light - I am officially in love with your celestory windows and the view from the ktichen Thanks Annette. Next H1 gathering in Sydney that you can join us for, you are most welcome to come and have a cuppa in my kitchen Meanwhile... not much more to report. Our gyprock and shadowline cornices were finished last Thursday, but then another lull (Zen are crap at ordering in advance). Electrician came on Monday to cut out. Waiting on the 2 step cornice to arrive. No idea when waterproofing or sanding happening. We also have some more work to be done on the roof, window glazing to be installed plus downpipes (coz we have colourbond downpipes, they want to come after all the external painting is finished). All takes time... I sent off my details for stairs and balustrades, then all the bathroom and kitchen accessories on Sunday (who knows whether they will actually action the order or not... ). Job this week is to finalise paint colours. So far: Woodwork and ceiling: Dulux Vivid White (semi gloss on the woodwork) Walls: Dulux Snowy Mountains (low sheen) Feature wall: likely to be Tropical Moss or a variant of that... We have only given them our vanity taps and showerheadd so far, no kitchen laundry or bath spouts etc.
Did you pick a toilet? Or are you going with the standard? Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2388Jun 26, 2012 11:29 am gogo65 Did you pick a toilet? Or are you going with the standard? ha! Didn't even think about toilets... Do we get a choice? (I must say, I am not impressed at M's advance ordering... ). What toilet are you thinking of? We had to order the shower rails so they could check the plumbing was ok before tiling, which it wasn't but after letting Matt know we were able to pick it up in a few days, so I doubt there is lag time, but yeah in regards to delays in doors, skirting stairs etc it doesn't help the matter ordering literally the day before, hoping thoug that it is sorted and more structured from now on Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2391Jun 26, 2012 4:39 pm Ryan 1977 I know this has been mentioned before but I have forgotten do the walls need any extra bracing for the wall mounted TVs? Depends on the size and location of the TV. Are you having a massive TV and will it be located somewhere that can't be attached to the existing studs? If so, then you should put some extra noggins in. Decide where and what sort of TV you are thinking of then look at your walls and see if what is there is not enough. We had a few noggins put in for our wall mounted TV, but DH said it might not have been necessary.... Just curious if you are if your painter is charging you more for this or not? Regarding toilets - take what they offer, I stupidly looked around but once I saw others compared to the standard the standard just looked so little! When I had seen it installed in a house my builders did though it looked fine (I asked at the time if that was the upgrade or not). Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2393Jun 26, 2012 7:46 pm SunshineT I must say, I am not impressed at M's advance ordering... These are the things that delay the build. You have to be planning for the next stage just as the current stage begins. I have ordered garage doors, stairs, cabinetry, appliances we got weeks ago ready to go, ordering doors and skirting next week. They take roughly a week to deliver. Tiles are ordered and mostly paid for and bathroom bits all selected and partially paid for. Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2395Jun 26, 2012 8:35 pm gogo65 Tell me about it Vess, I have everything pre ordered ready to go, bath, sinks, appliances, timber floors, lights, furniture, pity the builder isn't quite as organised I hear ya! greenfish - embarrassed to say not sure what sort of paint you mean (but I have vaguely heard of it.... more explanation?). Low VOC paints (or you can even get no VOC now which are completely natural products and often made from renewable resources) eliminates more toxins from coming in your house as well as most (some say all) of the 'new paint' smell. Also saves the painters from getting headaches with application! Thought it may be something that you would be interested in as I know you are trying to be as eco as you can. We are having it throughout Re: SunshineT's Build: pics finally 2397Jun 27, 2012 5:53 pm greenfish - OK, I thought you would say something like that. Read your post before bed and it was playing on my mind last night... we have done well with design elements, but not so good with materials I fear (except for our custom front door... ) meanwhile... popped over to site today with DH to see Andrew and the Bush Cherry garage door was on! Love it!! Will take a pic soon to post. The roof guys finished the flashing on the porch and the barge cap on the side of garage roof, but still need to do a bit at the front and a gap at the back. The cornice guys were there this arvo, but came late so will continue tomorrow with cornices and sanding. Painter coming tomorrow and waterproofer on Friday, so A pushed the archs, skirts and doors back until next week. Fingers crossed for the paint tomorrow coz painter called DH saying he couldn't find Snowy Mountains. Turns out it is a new colour on the architectural palette not in the standard set and his paint outlet couldn't find the colour. Lots of phone calls to Dulux and builder later, we are taking the sample pot over tomorrow to show painter. We found the colour in the book at Bunnings, but maybe the outlet didn't have the latest book? Anyway, lots of confusion, but we are set on the colour now so hope it goes OK tomorrow.... It looks so different with out those piles of rubbish. gogo - 2 weeks?!?! yeah right, why does he say crazy things like that? Or maybe the real question is - what is the 2 weeks until?
