Nana spontaneously was available for an hour so DH and I jumped in the car to go to the site (living 400m away makes it hard not to just go there 10 times a day - but the little ones, I think GB calls them sprogs?! put a stop to that ). Anyway, it was really really useful to walk through properly, with your comments in hand. We made a LOT of changes to our plans. All good improvements, thanks guys. And - the gutter and fascia guy was just finishing up! Guys stop reading here - I tell you what, the gutter man had amazing arm muscles Chicken legs, but oh the arms and shoulders Clearly in his job he just uses his top half. I suffer from that too. . . I think it's common amongst H1ers. . . Honestly, I've started my own little list of "things I must remember if we ever build again", but I'm quite sure I'll forget I have the list if we do ever build again. . . sometimes it's just SO HARD! T. . . are you checking out the talent again. . . time for a thread title change? You just can't help yourself, can you? And yes. . . I am from the realm of the "sprog". . . it's a common name for them where I'm from. . . no "rugrats" or "little ones" or "sweet little munchkins" in my upbringing! Maybe it's because I was neither of those three. . . Re: SunshineT's Build: electrical plans 1723May 12, 2012 12:11 pm My hubby did 23 years in the Navy and some of the terms they use make it like another language, and even though he got out in 1994 we still use the terms today. Sprog refers to a child and a baby is an SSM or scream and sh!t machine. T - male eye candy does wonders for the female soul, you should feel good the rest of the day!! Regards, Grumbles Re: SunshineT's Build: electrical plans 1724May 12, 2012 2:29 pm PS4314 The information on this thread is brilliant. Can I suggest someone copies or references these pages to the "things you forgot" thread - so much useful info. Thanks Ruth for your compliments. We are getting excited again! I took up your suggestion and did a collation of jodge and GB's comments, which are now immortalised in the fountain of wisdom (yeah, the Things You Forgot thread). The deck was about 450mm shorter than planned, so to compensate I am going to put glass balustrades on the northern deck. On the east we are having timber look aluminium slats (1000m high, same as balustrade) for privacy. Otherwise our house would be like a fish bowl from the street. One of the challenges with our site position. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Inside looking East out onto the deck. The pic is fantastic.. very excited to see this progress as my memory was only green frames. I wish my home in that stage soon. Hi Apue - yes, it has moved along recently. As for the ceiling - it's a bit different to the photo you posted. The reason we have lower ceilings in the kitchen is because we have a raked ceiling and it would look weird (and difficult to work around) to have the raked ceiling continue into the kitchen, hall and stairwell. So we put the bulkhead in which makes cabinetry for the kitchen neater and cleaner too. The result is that when walking into the Great Room (well, that is Masterton terminology, I should change the name, Raked Living Area?) it gives an extra feeling of elevation. It's coming together well now. Even if you don't have them fitted off straight away, handy to know they are there when you need them.
