Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Does anyone know what these are? 281Sep 10, 2010 9:22 pm There is lots of the strange marking by the way. They are different colours especially around the bathrooms?? Also forgot to say that after all the rain last weekend we discovered a couple of leaks in the roof too! Where the portico and the roof join there is a hole as the tile doesn't overlap the valley on both sides of the portico so HEAP of water was pouring through there and there is a cracked tile in the lounge room and one in the laundry which were both dripping water. SS said he would get those fixed. Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Sparks and Plumbs Pics pg 14 282Sep 10, 2010 9:33 pm Johno Hey Herb, our bricks were originaly Austral Latte and then we changed our minds to Austral Buckwheat as you see in the pics, its a new brick aparently. They costed $600 for upgrade... Our design is the old style Hartley!! We thought about the new range but they gave us a awesome deal with a whole heap of inclusions for a good price so we took it... The gables (wood inserts) on the front facade are going to be stained and the portico and master middle windows rendered. so it will all look real good when finnished! Plaster has started last week. Also our ET doors are the 21/27 same size as yours... Have you modified your home a little?? as it looks different in the family room than ours!! have you got some pics you can post up inside the home, it would be good to see what mods you have done. I think the old style Hartleys have a slightly different layout as the laundry is in a different spot and the Games room is length ways rather than width ways which probably gives the extra wall space in the alfresco. Which size hartley are you building Johno? Some piccies for you.... This is taken standing against the back window looking down the hallway. Kitchen is straight ahead to the left and the family room is to the right with the study and lounge behind that. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae344/herbiecat1973/IMG_2743.jpg This one is taken from the cavity in the study wall looking towards the family room, kitchen, dining room, laundry and games room http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae344/herbiecat1973/IMG_2732.jpg Is this similar to your layout Johno? Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Does anyone know what these are? 287Sep 11, 2010 9:00 am How cute, "It's a good day for brick laying Mum" Lucky you've discovered the leaks in your roof now before the plaster goes up. We discovered ours after Hopefully you see heaps of progress next week, seeing it was a slow one this week Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Bought some lights! 288Sep 11, 2010 5:53 pm Well if the mountain wont come to Mohammed, Mohammed will come to the mountain! So today due to the complete lack of activity at the house (other than the highlighter marks) I decided to take matters into my own hands and go out and buy my lights! The prices in the photos are not what we paid, got a very good discount because we were getting a house lot! They even gave the kids a free novelty light!!! So here they are...enjoy! So here is the over the bench light for the kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here is the kitchen light (I like this house however it is in the same room as the lights below that are in the living areas. Do you think it is OK to have one different light? The lady in shop recommended we get a diff light to the living areas as it is a white light that will give plenty of light in the kitchen....I do really like a light kitchen) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here are the lights for the rest of the main living areas in the house and the hallways and bedrooms. We must have the same taste as I was looking at Beacon lighting last week and the one you have picked for over the bench and en-suite, I was looking at for our ensuite or bathroom. I dread looking for a house full of lights when the time comes. So many decisions. Kay A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. I dread looking for a house full of lights when the time comes. So many decisions. Kay Thanks Kay you have excellent taste! It took ages to pick light we have been into Beacon that many times!!!! I have a sore neck from looking up so much hahahahaha! I wasn't very brave with the lighting choices we just wanted to keep it all a bit simple and most of the styles we have seen in display homes too which did help! In our last house we had bare light globes right up until the week before it went on the market so I decided not to do that again!!! LOL! Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Bought some lights! 292Sep 11, 2010 7:27 pm Johno Hi HC, your hartley looks alot different to ours maybe because yours is bigger! ours is the 290 but the older version. have you done any mods? Ahhhh that explains it!!! The only mods we have done is turn the second WIR to a walk in Linen Press and added doors to the ensuite and the Games room oh and changed the laundry door from a sliding to a swing open one so we could get the vent kit for the dryer put in. I think that is basically it structurally wise the rest is just decoration!!! Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Bought some lights! 293Sep 11, 2010 7:42 pm Quote: Ahhhh that could be it! When OH goes mad at me for doing this I will just say "But Herbiecat made me do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " Love the grown up one for YOUR lounge room Cheers Janet Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Bought some lights! 296Sep 11, 2010 10:03 pm I can't believe your shopping for lights already I've moved in and haven't even thought about what lights to put through the house All your choices are great, and yes I think it's fine to have a different light in the kitchen. I love the chandelier shade.... Bunnings sell a lamp version of that, DD16 has been eyeing it off. I have the same external lights on our pillars, but that has been the extent of our light shopping Re: Herbiecat's Hartley - Bought some lights! 297Sep 11, 2010 10:30 pm Looking good HC ... We havent even thought about choosing internal lights yet. Good Stuff. Probably a good thing with us building in the winter rain, at least we can find the roof leaks before plaster. I'm kinda shocked as to how many thousands we've gone through in just two weeks funiture, driveway, blinds, clothesline, gates OMG!!!! 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6200 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15918 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed.
