Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 03, 2010 9:54 pm Hi Guys, We are new to this forum.. and its very exciting and interesting reading about everyone's experiences. Just wondering whether anyone had any advice regarding final building negotiations. We are about to sign up with a builder, and would be interested to know what final "sweetners" or deals people have made right before signing. How much are builders prepared to go to seal a deal?? Would love to hear what discounts have been offered or deals have been thrown in at the 11th hour. We don't want to be greedy but if this is a standard thing to do then I think we should do it. Thanks everyone Building our dream home........... soon......... maybe.......... when we finally get town planning! Re: Final Negotitations with builder 2Jun 03, 2010 9:59 pm It might help to know who you're choosing to build with so people can give you more relevant information. We recently signed a tender with Eden Brae and I'd heard before going in that they didn't budge much plus they also had some really good promotions on where we got half price air conditioning and 2 extra squares for only $3000 as well as their "upgrade package" for $4000 so that's their reasoning to not budge much with anything else. In saying that though, they "massaged" a figure here and a figure there but we did make a lot of modifications so perhaps had a little more room to play with. We are looking for a more traditional negotiation and see what we can get thrown in, our thinking at the moment is as high as the stamped concreate driveway ($15k), and at the other end of the spectrum data cabling ($3k). Might be a upgrade on the solar hot water to add some more panels. Would love to know if people can get the same sort of bargains you can get buying a new car when you start at 9AM and hold out to closing time of the car yard. i would suggest nothing is unreasonable for PCI. we did all sorts, including checking the hot water, checking all the GPO's had power, testing that the showers were… 9 98695 Hi, I am approaching end of the build.
