And hope you guys can sheer some lights on building with McJones. Anyone knows if McJones gives away some extras FOC? Do we get nasty surprises during construction ($$$$) . Does their base price includes M class soil. I have the quotation back where they qouted for H1 but I have another tender from another builder that came back with a M class after the soil test. Anyone of you got refund for the soil class spec? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11682Jul 09, 2015 8:51 am Firsthomebuild Hi all, I'm a newbie here. Hi, We are in council stage and we have had no problems, they deal with issues straight away (we're not in construction stage yet) I'm so happy with them! In our tender we allowed for worst case soil (aggressive) and H1 slab - we didn't need either of those so got a credit of over $5,000 back!! Anyone of you got refund for the soil class spec? Hi Firsthomebuild We have had a fairly pleasant experience so far with MJH. In the early stages we got quoted for a H1 class slab but then after the soil testing was done this got increased to a H2 class slab but that is not MJH's fault if that is what you need then that is what you need I guess. They also initially allowed 40 lineal metres of concrete for our piering but then they increased this to 120 lineal metres. We were really annoyed by this and nearly pulled the pin on the whole deal. We are now about to have our slab poured on Monday and when they did the piering it only came in at 35 lineal metres so now we are getting a refund back for 85 lineal metres which equates to $7,650.00 so we are stoked about that. I am not sure why they increased it from 40 to 120 and then it came back at 35 though??? Just happy to get a refund for what they didn't use. We didn't hit any rock during excavation so no added costs there. Once our build began we have had no extra costs, we have had the refund of $7,650.00. I think that once the slab is done I don't think there are any extra costs they could get us for now. I hope I am correct about that. If that is not the case, I would love to hear from anyone else. All the staff have been really great to deal with and the colour selections were a very enjoyable day. Couldn't really fault them much yet so just hoping on a very good quality build now. For me, I just love their house designs and when we went through their display homes I just had to build with them. Good luck with your decision. Oh, we got the free ducted air, our alfresco grande (no concrete though, we had to pay for the concrete), Appliance upgrade from Baumatic to Smeg or Miele and Celebrations Package thrown in for free. This probably depends a bit too on what house you are building and how much you are spending with them. I can imagine your face expression when they said com 40lm to 120lm. And what a relief at the end of the day you only need 35lm.. I wonder why is that too. You've got yourself a pretty good deal. May I know which design are you building now?. Do they put in some extras on top of that? What house are you guys looking at building and where are you building? We didn't get any more extras other than what I mentioned in my previous post which we got thrown in such as deducted air, alfresco, Smeg Package and Celebrations Package. We are doing all floor coverings, blinds, driveways and yards ourselves after handover. Our site supervisor said we will probably have our keys before Christmas which would be great. CathyLeigh We are looking at building the Havana Renwick in Maitland. Are you building at the area as well. Cool we almost have the same design of house but mine is smaller, but guesss what. The quotation came out I need 50lm for a smaller version of yours. That's weird..Can you share your tiling suppliers? Is that really much cheaper than having it done by McJones and save the hassle looking for qoute n etc. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11687Jul 09, 2015 1:00 pm Hi patte_au Replying to you now under a new username (was Femma1412) We are going to have a look at the Rinnai Sapphire too, it looks really nice- as we were unable to have MJH install a different branded one that we wanted. So thanks for the suggestion! & pricing seems reasonable. We have our Colours appointment in a couple of weeks, so I'm going crazy to make all my choices!! We are building at Vermont estate in Pitt Town, so we're kind of like neighbours! CathyLeigh Wow that's good to hear you can move in before X'mas! Exciting! I bet you are looking forward to decorating your house for Xmas. It seems quite a few months to go but never early for little ones.My son is playing Christmas songs at home now..opsss out of topic. Btw,how long does it takes to build (handover)when they start construction? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11689Jul 09, 2015 1:07 pm Can anyone shed any light on the timber flooring choices? Or what is available other than tiling the floors. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do about the flooring- to go with MJH or do it afterwards. Is it Gerflor branded laminates? Thanks! Do you do your own tiling or with McJones? The colour is beautiful & it looks so grand. Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
