Is he part of the process all the way through or does he just do the final inspection at hand over? Also what was the cost if you dont mind me asking although you cant really put a cost on having peace of mind? Anyone? They can be. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 583Dec 13, 2010 8:45 am NEVER AGAIN will we build with these people we starte off so well being given free upgrades on our appliances and air conditioning and thing just went down hill from there we signed and were then forgotten nothing was said or done for us or nearly 3 months unroll we called in which we were basically told sorry the woman looking after you went on maternity leave and it seems your plans and such got lost. We then were forgotten another 2 times and had nothing but problems from a woman there named Kelly King we ended up having to go over her head to the bosses to finally get our house into council. After that they managed to order the wrong door frames for every room and robe the painters basically had to come back and paint the whole house again and they still missed spots, well now that our house is finished we got our tiler in to start our tile today only to find that our slab is unstraight and it will cost us an extra $5000 to fix it, when we started we were so excited and now it's just like what else will go wrong!! Also, good luck on Wednesday, how very exciting!! vpeewee - 7 weeks sounds about what MJH have indiciated to us, but bearing in mind Xmas and January building shutdown, who knows. We also have retaining walls that we need to do so reading your comments was interesting. Will be good to see how much extra in the budget I need to allow for this. Macca - GO You!! Under budget in your colours. Opposite to us, we found a few little extras that we would like, such as knocking out a wall and putting in doors!!! (just a little over budget...) Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 586Dec 13, 2010 2:22 pm Woodduck were building on the central coast we were really happy with our site supervisor who seemed to really push our job along unfortunatly all the little mistakes seem to have made our experience very unpleasant let's hope everything goes fine from now on Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 587Dec 13, 2010 7:28 pm Almost our one year anniversary building with MJH. We signed up with them on December 18 last year and have almost finished, we have PCI on Thursday. We are quite happy with the finished product, but it has been a very slow process. What we were thought were slow builders around us, mainly Eden Bray, are all finished. We are building in Ropes Crossing for people who don't know or have forgotten. Now the fun begins in regards to landscaping, fencing etc. I just wish MJH had allowed for the Alfresco slab as part of the house, very strange not to do it if you ask me. Oh and if you ask me if we would build with MJH again? I really don't know. We were * to about the build time to sign up, and it has been very slow. However our customer liaison officer has been the BEST and she is always available and helpful. Our site supervisors on the other hand..... Good luck to those who are building, just be patient and prepared for a long wait. Deryck. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 588Dec 13, 2010 7:53 pm Castlevania hey macca2000 - At your colour appointment did they throw in any freebies? Our appt is next week. Oh we wish!!! That would have been a great christmas pressie. No sorry no freebies but pretty happy with the prices of the things we wanted to upgrade. Hopefully all the colours will come together the way we think Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 589Dec 13, 2010 8:00 pm b.lizzie Macca - great your colours went well. Have you confirmed everything? How long did it take to have everything in writing and corrected? We had errors in transcribing our selections and are waiting for an updated version to sign off on. Hey b.lizzie, We checked all colours on the day & signed off, i've double & tripple checked it since and can't fault it so we're good to go. Hope your updated version comes through soon otherwise i'd be chasing them up... if you have trouble via phone or email getting hold of someone, I'd recommend actually going to the offices. Someone did that when we were there for colours & they got it all sorted for her in like 10minutes & she'd been chasing for days - goodluck Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 590Dec 14, 2010 2:47 pm Hello everyone, Hope your build is moving along, Heres an update of were we are up to, we have our roof finished and it looks great, really happy with it , the plumbing and gas pipes are in and today we find electricals, TV and phone is in too. fingers crossed we may see insulation in this week and gyprock maybe next week. Then christmas so we'll see what happens, everyone deserves a break for christmas and a fresh start next year. keep smiling and happy christmas riccathome Building:Bronte Grand Manor Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 591Dec 14, 2010 9:15 pm Evening all We need some advice!! Crimsafe doors - did anyone use the MJH quotes? they seem very expensive at over $5000 to do the alfresco and bedroom sliding doors, laundry and front door. Any companies you know of that would do it cheaper, and if so, what is the price comparison? Thanks badger Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 592Dec 15, 2010 10:20 am Hi Danana, How did you go with handover? When do you expect to get the keys. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 593Dec 15, 2010 11:34 am Hi all, just returned from our handover. All went well, all the paint touch up was done, bricks were not cleaned very well considering the brick's we chose needed the so called extra $500 for cleaning, can still see where the jet wash was up and down the wall. Small tip, if you notice anything slightly out of the ordinary let them know, we assumed that the bricks would get cleaned again.....wrong. That aside, everything else is very good quality and appears slightly above standard. Good luck everyone, and merry christmas. Do they put tiles all behind the rangehood between the overhead cupboards. There did not seem to be any tiles in that area. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 596Dec 21, 2010 8:15 am Hi 1155, Sent you a PM. Our tiler had to get more tiles to finish the splash back off, so he must have decided to do it all.
