Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10923May 26, 2015 8:15 pm Thursday is not that far away, only two more sleeps. You've gotta be excited. Hope it all goes well. Regards Graham and Kathy Owners of 2.5 acres of Paradise.......now working towards the house! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10924May 26, 2015 8:25 pm That's true lot 927 I think yours looks a bit better because of the extra wide door you have, do you think? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10926May 26, 2015 10:12 pm Hi We are getting the higher door but in all those pics the handles looked super high up to me? maybe we can discuss with the SS before it gets put on.... Anyway, our frame was still being put up today (3rd day) it was possibly finished off this evening, I'm not sure. I did a recon stalk at 5pm but the guys were still working, I wanted to get out and take photos for hubby who is away and hasn't seen any of this yet, but checking things out 3 times in one day is just embarrassing. I will have a peek again tomorrow morning. Question! for those who have the corner stacker doors to alfresco (with no corner post) does the frame come with the support post in the middle and it is removed later? Cause we definitely have a post there at the moment. I'm sure it's right but thought I would see if others had noticed this. We had a support frame built into our facade and it was removed later. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10931May 27, 2015 9:31 am safaa81 fullsp Hi All, Seems to be a bit of conversation going on about aircon lately, so thought I'd share my experience. We got handover 4 weeks ago and went to get aircon installed, however due to us having a tiled roof, the trusses and members (the v-shaped parts of the frame) are too close together, bit disappointing as we'd already received written confirmation from Mc Jones that installing a ducted system after handover wouldn't be an issue. I went to our CLO who passed me over to Supaloc (no number, name or contact details provided), so I then rang around supaloc, dealt with their Newcastle and Adelaide offices and their structural engineer to get the plans amended to allow for the ducted unit to be installed. I then had to purchase the materials from Supaloc and then find someone to make the modifications. At this point I contacted the Sales/Marketing Manager for Mc Jones and explained the situation and my frustration. He passed my feedback onto Bill McDonald who called me and then put me in touch with a framer to make the changes. It ended up taking 2-weeks and costing $800 but now we have the space to fit the a/c. I did tell Mc Jones that this should be taken care of at colours and provisions allowed in the frame design for people to install a/c after handover. I'm not naming names and purpose is not to upset anyone at Mc Jones (heaven forbid!), but I'm posting this as a warning for anyone else looking at putting a/c in after handover who has a tiled roof. Thanks Hi fullsp, Which house did you build? We built the Milano 4 16m, beautiful house and a quality build. I thought it may have been a two storey home. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10935May 27, 2015 9:40 am Hi All, quick question for those who have got their frames up, how long after the slab going down before you had things like external plumbing, electrics and the frame done? thanks. We're planning on having a tiled roof and doing electrical post handover. I'll have to talk to my brother about it. I thought it may have been a two storey home. Tiles are heavier > more trusses needed > less space between them. I think it shows the limitations of steel frames when colourbond isn't used. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10938May 27, 2015 10:23 am Nat and Dan Milano builders is your bathroom mirror in one piece or two? Hi Nat and Dan, My SS mentioned that the Ensuite Mirror is 2 Piece. We didn't do any upgrades with mirrors, so I'm guessing the 2 Piece is Standard. I am not sure what the other Bathroom would have.
