After the last call I had with the SS which was on the 11th Oct, we received a call to say that as of yesterday the 19th we were at practical completion!! We had our walkthrough on Monday in which we found minor issues mainly dealing with the paintwork that needed to be addressed. The microwave shelf also needed replacing as it had been badly scratched. We also had the issue with the manhole rectified and we are extremely grateful to the area construction manager who came up with the ideal place for us to put it. Without his help we would have been forced to have it in living area which I would have been less than impressed about! My husband and I are over the moon with the end result and can truly say we have our dream home. We also only have the highest praise for our CLO, who has the best communication and made it a very smooth process from the start, and the ladies in colour selection who seemed to be able to read my mind..lol We should be in our home in no longer than two weeks and although it has been an extremely long process (16 months) since we paid our initial deposit, we are just so happy with out house. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1218Oct 20, 2011 10:18 am just checked the ponds website... I guess our land is registred already? Will landcom inform us or our solicitor? Congrats Hussibug, Glad your patience has been rewarded with a home you are truly happy with. It gets frustrating towards the end as you can see how good everything looks but can't get in and use it. You have every right to be over the moon. Remember the moving mantra as you prepare to move in "If you haven't picked it up in over a year, throw it out you don't need it". Looks like of all the bloggers on here regularly we might be next to do a handover so we are right in the middle of trying to explain that to our kids. Once you identified areas that needed work did you get an idea of how long to rectify? Did you get a big list of stuff to do as owner (in your initial contract) before you can move in such as clothesline, letter box etc? Do you get the keys at the same time as an occupancy certificate so you can move in straight away? Good luck with the move. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1220Oct 20, 2011 2:13 pm Just an update on my previous post... We will be getting our keys next Tuesday afternoon!!! cant believe what a smooth run it has been right at the end, right when you most need it too I think! No rest for the wicked though..lol Time to organise the actual move. Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones. It looks relatively cheaper than other builders.
