FINALLY!!!! we have council approval, site scraped, piers poured and even slab laid - i cant believe how fast it all happens once the paperwork is done. Today, fence has gone up and the dunny is here! Gotta say i have a great site supervisor and nothing is a problem for him. If it keeps up like this, i will be a very happy man. Some pics are on my blog and as you will see, will need to do some landscaping and get creative. Cheers all!!! Good luck with the rest of the build. Edited to say, I had a look on your blog and can see where the tank is. Another question, are you doing retaining walls after the house is built? Out of curiosity, do you know if your land is saline, and where will be your water tank position? Edited to say, I had a look on your blog and can see where the tank is. Check the blog for the second post and you can see on the floorplan where the tank is placed. I moved it as close as i could to the ensuite window. The land is saline and we had to make the changes accordingly, slab, etc. We will be doing retaining walls but, only a small one to the side and there will be one around the water tank at the back. We went with drop edge beams to the sides to keep most of the slab to natural ground level as it is actually quite flat once we remove all that excess fill you can see. Cheers!!!!! The qualtiy seems great too... a bit disappointing to find so many of our extra's are their 'standard inclusions' - so happy for them though.. and I forgot to mention their fininshed home (they did turn key to include everything many of us do after handover) is close to $100000 cheaper and the biggest difference is that their pergola is spanline rather than under the main roof. We paid the same for our blocks of land. Lizzie Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 693Mar 05, 2011 5:39 pm Hi Everyone. New to the site, We'started our process with MJH building the Chesterfield Grande in goulburn NSW. Paid our deposit In Mar 10, back an forth with plan changes for months, we are we at now? Well we have a porta loo on the block, guess that must be a start, spoke with foreman thursday and we should have site cut and fill and slab by 15th. fingers crossed Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 694Mar 05, 2011 8:08 pm A quick question. I've noticed on several blogs that some people have a "projected" picture of what there house will look like with the colours and facade that they have chosen. I am assuming this was provided by Mcjones?? If so were you given and shown this at colour selection? We weren't offered or told anything about it. Would have been great to see when were selecting to how it would look Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 695Mar 05, 2011 10:19 pm patriot A quick question. Most of the blogs i've seen have just pulled the photo from MJ's website to show what facade they are having not necessarily the colours. Hasn't been the best week here with the weather but they still managed to get most of the brick work done. Hasn't been the best week here with the weather but they still managed to get most of the brick work done. I don't think they really have that many different signs to be honest, our sign looks absolutly nothing like the house we are building, but we are building an acreage house so maybe they don't have signs for those. An update on our build, we are finally getting there now, late last week the ceilings and bedrooms have been gyprocked. Unfortunetly the eaves and gable still haven't been finished but the other half spoke to the tradie who was there last week and he explained that he has been contracted to do about 40 houses around Sydney and they won't get anyone else. He was having a whinge because he doesn't get paid until the job is finished but he is expected to start on all of them so its all going. I feel for the guy, it seems that McJones has taken on so much work without increasing thier staffing and contractor levels. Made us realise that its not necessarily the tradies being deliberatly slow or lazy. Kitchen is booked for delivery next week (can't wait!) and the finisher should be in shortly to fit the doors and other bits and pieces. Its very exciting to walk through and have it really looking like a house! It's all too frustrating However we wish everybody well with their builds. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 699Mar 08, 2011 10:40 am Sorry to hear that Muscovy. Hopefully you'll find a more competent builder.
