Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 375Oct 10, 2010 2:00 pm Great to hear how everyone is going. We have signed off on our plans and are just waiting for the contract to arrive in the mail. As others have said its obviously more convenient to have MJ do the flooring,electrical etc but then its also a bit more expensive. You just have to way up what works best for you as there's really no right or wrong. Whilst it can be hard at times i say try and enjoy the experience and later you'll probably laugh at some of the things you were stressing about especially if your a first time builder like us. Our build commenced Sept 2010 and our completion date is set for April 2011. I know this is a worst case senario date, but how accurate is that date? Do they finish only weeks short of it or months? Thanks riccathome Hi, Our contract finish date is Feb 2011, we are at lockup and hopefully kitchen this week. Our SS said santa may be arriving at our new house this year. If this happens it will be around 5 months actual build time. Remember to factor in xmas break. Thanks riccathome Hey, Ours started in early June and had a expected completion date in December. As per your start letter they can extend this for anything out of there control as per the contract. We have had around 5 - 6 days of wet weather extentions. Our SS has us booked in for our walk around in 2 weeks with keys and hand over 2 weeks after that. So 5 months....! Nothing but high praise in the quality of the house so far.... Our painting has just been completed and looks first class. Its nice to be starting to get to this point.
