I have read also previously re setting up a security account for the full amount?? Money is in TD - wonder how that will work??? On a separate note, i asked how i can mount a TV later on and was met with 'drill into the steel frame'....does this sound ok???? Cheers all!!!! Hi Gavmer1, Not much more in the contract that you should know about, one thing we didn't discover until it was too late was which windows open and which don't. I didn't recognize the little symbol on the plans missing on windows we wanted to open. Didn't ask about the TV mount, saw the cost in the electrical sheet and said I would do ourselves. Hey Gavmer, We are carpeting the rooms and home entertainment tiling the rest. We added most extras at the tender to know what total cost we were looking at. Bet your glad to be getting that contract. Ray Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 329Sep 28, 2010 10:40 am Ray, when do you expect to be in??? Have you been told yet??? woodduck Building The Chesterfield Grande with McDonald Jones https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=33587 Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 330Sep 28, 2010 2:09 pm Well it's been a very eventful 2 1/2 weeks since we moved in, more than made up for our relatively uneventful build. A shattered window, a gas leak and carpet that made me so sick I had to have treatment in hospital. Oh and a credit card ** which saw my card maxed out paying some university in England at 3am one morning. All this while trying to work, move house, get new stuff (the basics at least) and clean the temporary digs. I'm exhausted! The good new is that despite the few problems we have had, our SS has wasted no time in fixing things. Couldn't do much about the carpet fumes unfortunately. The driveway has been dug and should be poured next week so hopefully no more traipsing mud/dirt through the house. I got a good deal on breakfast bar stools from ebay, $129 for 4 stools and they look great! We also have sliding screen doors installed today which helps to keep the bugs out when we leave all the windows & doors open to air the carpet fumes. We are slowly getting there, still a lot of stuff to do and buy but I am slowly ticking them off the list one by one. Good to see progress for everyone and SS's being replaced finally. To all those at planning, don't despair, once building starts it goes very fast! Ours was 6 months before dirt was turned than only 5 months to build. Jen Building Bordeaux 13m Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 331Sep 28, 2010 2:30 pm wow Jennie, Sounds exhausting just reading it. Hope your all good now. It is good to hear your build was only 5 months. woodduck Building The Chesterfield Grande with McDonald Jones https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=33587 Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 332Sep 28, 2010 2:57 pm Good to hear that your moved in, can you tell me who done your sliding screened doors as i had a few quotes and they seem to be very costly, did you go for normal flyscreens or something stronger. Cheers Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 333Sep 28, 2010 7:27 pm Jennie_ carpet that made me so sick I had to have treatment in hospital. Jen What sort of carpet do you have? Cheers Hi Jacko, We have two quite large sliding screen doors onto the al fresco out the back, we opted for just bug screening as opposed to the full on security ones. Lord knows how much they would have cost and my reasoning is that if someone is determined to get in, they would just bypass the security doors and go for a window or something instead. They were $473 for both from Ausiports, I am located on the Central Coast though and Ausiports are at Charmhaven. It would have cost an extra $130 to powder coat the colour exactly the same as our windows but we just chose a standard colour as close to our windows as possible. You can't even notice the difference unless someone points it out - the screen doors are ever so slightly lighter than the windows. Jen What sort of carpet do you have? Hi catjim, We got MJH to do the carpet and it was at the end of colour selections. I didn't even give a thought to any possible effects of getting one carpet over the other. I just chose what I thought looked nice and it's a short pile, light coffee coloured nylon (I think) carpet called "dazzle". Jen Building Bordeaux 13m Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 336Sep 29, 2010 9:51 am Hi all, I would just like to know if any one has had the Derby Ducted air-con installed & what do they think of the system? Also what does everyone think of the steel frame & is it easy to work with in the future e.g. walking inside the roof. Jen Cheers jacko Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 338Sep 29, 2010 11:01 am Hey all, Updated my blog with a couple pics of land and plans. The snag continues and im told of a resolution today - full amount cant be put in security account as half of it is in term deposit making good interest. Ive left it to them so lets see what they do as it could make or break me here. Cheers jacko[/quote] Jacko it only affected me, not the other 3 people in the house - although my hubby was complaining about stinging eyes. It was the chemical fumes. I had severe headaches/migraines, nausea, horrible nightmares, stinging eyes, couldn't think properly and was walking around bumping into walls. I had worked a night shift, closed all the doors and windows to keep the noise out through the day while I slept and woke up in a bad way. It continued for 5 days before I realised what it was. Yes I am happy with the colour and style, just not the smell! Jen Building Bordeaux 13m Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
