I have a whole post dedicated to mine because I was so dissapointed afterward I had to get it off my chest. Mainly, we are building an older deisng (not Steward Everitt) and it seems that the inclusions are totally, totally different to what are in the display homes now and the standards for the older designs are woefully inadequate. For example, 1 choice of internal door handles (in white!), not much choice in tiles (I felt anyway, others have said different), very expesnive for some upgrades like front door, kitchen cabinets. We spent about 3 1/2 hours there and I was almost in tears by the end of it. I stil think a lot about what we ended up with and I really really hope that it looks ok, we live in Sydney so all deicisons had to be made on the day. Sorry I'm not being too positive for you, but I just wanted to let you know that your not the only one. I've basically just taken the oppinion now that what will be, will be and if there is somehting I don't like afterwards and its easy to cahnge I will do so. Good Luck with your build. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 294Sep 15, 2010 6:28 pm Quick question for anyone who did their own electrical as we are going to do our own. We have received an email saying we will hear from MJ in regards to our electrical appt soon and will obviously have to travel down to Thornton again. Just wondering what the procedure was as in did you have to send a copy of your electrical diagram to MJ? Matt If your in Sydney your electricals appointment is in norwest, If your not in Sydney I don't know, our only tip for eletricals is decide how much you want to spend, work out what you can do afterwards, and go from there. We saved thousands working that way, a lot of our electricals will be done after we move in. I'm sure someone has the electrical list handy. Riccathome Building:Bronte Grand Manor Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 296Sep 15, 2010 9:24 pm Today we drove by and the guys who will install the tv wall support were there. We had a chat with them about the position we wanted both tv's on the wall. Basically a little higher than normal to stop little fingers pressing buttons. The kitchen and vanities were installed today and more of the skirting boards were on and almost all the internal doors are now hung. Today we finally heard from our new SS and we will be meeting him next week to go through a list of minor issues. wayne6666 We attended the colours appointment on Friday 10/9 at 1pm. We left at 5.15pm feeling confused and very rushed in our selections to the point where we have to reattend again on Wednesday 15/9 before the 150 day limit expires. My wife and I went in with an open mind and happy that we had the impressions package. ( How wrong we were). Every item except a couple mentioned in the package we had to upgrade due to quality and appearance and personal preferrence. The so called freebies mentioned in the impressions brochure really do not exist. We left there with 30k of upgrades. Happy to hear from anyone else who has been left bewildered and wondering after their colour selections appointment. wayne6666 Wayne666 -I was happy with the choices available at colour selection. I did the same as Jennie, I researched everything before we went and knew exactly what we wanted and it took a bit under 2 hours even with chasing my then 11mth old around the room. We went with all neutral whites and greys throughout the house as I know they won't look dated in 5 minutes. I thought the impression package was much better than what other builders were offering. For us adding a lot of little upgrades wouldn't have added more value to our house. 1155 - Great to hear you are off to a good start! mattmaca Quick question for anyone who did their own electrical as we are going to do our own. Matt - We requested our electrical appointment be held at Norwest as it is 10mins drive from home. Danana posted a link for the electrical costs before but you can ask your customer liaison officer for a price list. We are doing most electrical work after handover. They will discuss all your electrical requirements at your appointment. They have an amazing computer program that puts all your wants onto the diagram and adds up the costs as you go. Has anyone else experienced this strange request? Regards, MichaelB Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 298Sep 15, 2010 10:42 pm Hi all BM - congrats on the progress. Your bricks look great - even better cleaned!! I LOVE your front door - I had a total brain snap when selecting our door and didn't even think of wood. I'm still kicking myself! Jen - congrats on the move. For some reason I can no longer see your pics but I'm dying to see what your place looks like! I hope the move ran/runs smoothly for you. Danana - congrats on the frame. Do you know when they start bricking? 1155 - congrats on the slab and good luck for next week with the frame. Looking forward to seeing some pics! MichaelB - Hi and welcome to Homeone!! It's a great resource. I'm building the Monte Carlo to so GREAT choice! I'm not sure about the joint security account but I know there was some info with the colour kit. From memory that did state that you need to deposit the whole sum fairly early on in the process. We have had some good progress - our bricks are now more than 50% done and the roof started today. The electrical cable also went in today so it's all systems go at the moment. I think there were about 7 tradies on site when I went up today. Thanks guys and sorry i should have been a bit clearer. We are on the Mid Nth Coast so i know our appt will be at Thornton which is another 3 hr drive and after the colour selection was hoping to not have to go down again. We have someone that can help us with the electrical diagram but just wanted to check whether you still had to go to the appt or whether if by doing it yourself you could leave it all to later. Just dont know what MJ requirements are in regards to that. Congrats Bizzie on getting things happening and hope your new SS is good. BM - Hope your new SS keeps things moving along for you. Welcome all the newbies. Heaps on info to sift through. We have just heard fro our SS that we should be at lock up early October. Happy about that. -Cant help with own electrical, sorry. -We didnt have to deposit extra into an account, just paid the balance, now we just pay the stages payments. woodduck Building The Chesterfield Grande with McDonald Jones https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=33587 Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
