Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 223Aug 30, 2010 3:50 pm Hi Deryck, I know it sounds a little random but this is what im being told via tilers. It levels out any imperfections and the adhesive is placed over the top. This is heading to the too hard basket i think. Cheers!!!! Building the Monte Carlo with side activities in Mt Annan MY BLOG: http://gavsfirstbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 224Aug 30, 2010 3:59 pm Deryck Hi everyone, Everyones houses are looking great, and all the progress is fantastic. Our house is up to bricking stage, which is about all the good news! Danana I believe we might have the same sight supervisor, we will know soon enough as ours will be parting ways from MJH soon. Our brick work looks good from the outside, however there is very little mortar on the back of the bricks. When having a look from inside out, you can almost see sunlight in spots. I hope they fix it up. Now if anyone else is in Western Sydney and has a site supervisor with a name starting with D, do not ring him with issues! When we informed him of the water meter issue, it was our fault for putting the house on the block the wrong way, and it is where it should be and we have to build our fence around it. I think now he is moving on, he doesn't care much for customer service. So please be warned! Anyway I hope we can get our issues sorted as it is so good to see progress Deryck Whats the issue with your water meter mate? I`m heading out to my block tomorrow,i`ll do a customary swing by your place to check it`s progress out. Shame about your brickwork from the inside, lucky you picked up on it. I bet they were hoping it would slip past and you would never know once the wrap/insulation/gyprock is up. OMG in just over a week we can start moving in Welcome to everyone beginning (or contemplating) their journey with MJH. Our journey started early last October and is just now coming to and end almost 11 months later. It has been fairly uneventful and smooth. I have a question for anyone who scored the Impressions package late last year, did you have trouble choosing a name for your home for the plaque?? You would think it would be easy but I had no idea. I'd love to know what you chose Jen Building Bordeaux 13m Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 233Aug 30, 2010 9:42 pm We are looking at signing up with McDonald Jones Homes in the next few months due to our Land not settling till October, is anyone aware of any offers that are being offered at the moment to sweeten the deal (besides the impressions package) or can this be negotiated at the time of signing a the contract. Skirtings, etc?? Was it a hard exercise? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have my colours to sign off on and dont know if i should get someone else to tile or have MJH do it???? They want approx 13k which is close to the same cost elsewhere but, im told they dont lay sand/cement prior which is a big part. Is it easy to have someone paint and fix the skirting afterwards????????? REALLY need your help here all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers! Sorry gavmer1 i wouldn't be of much help as we are yet to even have our colour appt. We have made our decision from talking to people in regards mostly to the mark up that would be on both the flooring and electrical. Either way just try and be comfortable and enjoy the experience as there's really no right or wrong. We have gone with a Stuart Everitt design and have a different range of specials than what is offered in the Impressions Package. Building The Monte Carlo with PR-MJ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 235Aug 31, 2010 8:08 am Hi Jen, The name on the plaque was a huge mental effort on my behalf! In the end we just went with the house number and the street. There was nothing else we could think of that wasn't personal and would suit anyone who wanted to buy the house after we moved out. You could try looking into the aboriginal names for things, but to be honest the one we chose has been used many times in our estate alone! Just pick something that fits in with either the house or the area and you should be fine, just don't make it personal otherwise when you sell you will have to take it down. We have a list names we like, which with a family of seven took a long time to narrow down, its includes memorable places we have been, and things we have done, as a family. We have one that stands out, its the first place we took the kids on an overseas holiday 4 years ago, and associates with our most favorite family sport. But the decision is not final yet..
