Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 103Jul 20, 2010 5:10 pm We are finally committed. We've paid our deposit and we are on our way. We've asked a million questions of MJH so hopefully we don't have too many costly surprises we haven't account for! Thanks Mrs Waiting and others for your help so far. I guess we play the waiting game now. Has anyone gone over the 150 day fixed quote in the past? I have a question but I don't realistically expect a definite answer. LOL. I'll ask anyway! We plan on bag & painting and we have found a built Bronte with the colours we want. The owners were kind enough to tell us their colours but the problems is they built 18 months ago and MJH must have been using Wattyl paint back then. I visited a Taubmans shop and asked for a match to Wattyls "light coffee" and after looking on the computer they said they can do Wattyls "light coffee" - the exact formula. When I get to colours and I say I want Wattyl's "light coffee" do you think they'll accept that or make us pick from the Taubmans colour chart?? It should be finished by early December although we are hoping it will be done by November as we need to do carpets, tiles, driveways, landscaping etc after hand over and won't be moving in until they are done. We really want to be in by Christmas! My kids are patiently waiting for a backyard with grass in it! I look forward to hearing & seeing more of the stages, especially yours Bizzie Mummy as we have chosen a similar colour scheme to you I only wish we were at the stage you are after having made our initial deposit in Dec but I just have to continue to be paitent and look at the big picture in maybe a year or so Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 115Jul 22, 2010 10:04 pm Hi Everyone Well, BM, Jennie woodduck and X69 - your builds all seem to be moving along nicely!! McD Jones do build a great looking home. Please keep posting photos - it keeps all of us that are still waiting interested in the whole process My 20 days (from authority to commence construction letter) runs out tomorrow. No surprise really but the only thing done is 4 wooden pegs in my block I'm hoping to see something soon but there are a few in my area that seem to have gone nowhere over a good few weeks??? My contract is 160 days (plus 3 weeks for christmas) so despite all verbal warranties I can't see us being in by christmas. Riccathome and EMnewbies - I share Deryck's sentiments re the 150 day fixed price. Any delay was NOT on our end and I refused to accept although McD Jones seem to be of the view that they did me some great favour by not insisting on the clause (let me tell you I would have been more than happy to sign within a much shorter time frame!!) I'm hoping to report on some progress soon! Our plans went into Maitland Council on Thursday 8 July 2010, I rang the council yesterday to see if there was any information yet, only to be informed that approval was granted on Monday 19 and released on Wed so we should get the paperwork any day now!!! I arrived home to paperwork in the mail!! So now all systems go on my end, I have the land being cleared next week, and the water connection done the week after, hopefully the bank can get all there stuff sorted and I will have completed all my requirements by 6 August and McDJH will be good to go as soon as they want!!! Here's hoping for a quick start!! Still awaiting an electrical appointment, not sure when that's going to happen...I just can't wait for it to start!! Building:Bronte Grand Manor Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 119Jul 23, 2010 9:45 pm Well our roof is now complete! I'm happy so long the house is progressing along. The colour is lighter than we expected. It is hard to choose when you have to use miniscule samples. The roof and gutter are the same colour but when you look at them on they actually look like different colours! The colorbond is a grey colour but in different light it looks a bit green or blue. So now we are waiting for our brickies to turn up! Fingers crossed they will start soon. Woodduck- Great to see your pictures. It's so exciting to see something finally happening at your block. Normad - I reckon in a years time we will all look back and wonder where the time went, although the process along the way seems so slow! Bon - I hope you see the dirt shifting soon!
