My partner and I are building in Stockland Aura in Sunshine Coast !
This is our first home and we mostly are just learning along the way. We have selected our home, the Linden, and are at the stage of looking through our Deposit Variation. Also, we went to the Pre-selection appointment today and are amazingly overwhelmed with the amount of decisions and choices we need to make.
Currently reading through all of the posts here and getting some really good insight into the process, and some great ideas! Thanks !
If anyone has any good posts to point out (nearly 700 pages in this topic!!) or any good blogs documenting the process, that would be great
Thanks !!
Hi kdoe9190,
Yes I agree with you, Approx 700 pages, It takes too long to go through all of them, and pick out what will be relevant and useful, but I did exactly that late last year and put together a diary of useful information until I caught up in Jan of this year and just added anything that wasn't covered in previous posts and new information over written old, hints and tips, pitfalls, things you forget, and so on, on just about everything you can think of that MJH owners kindly shared with us all on this forum.. The Good and Bad, and some ugly!!.. But mostly good from my assessment of this thread..
As for the Blogs you asked about, someone had previously posted on here, kindly put something together ( a collection of blogs earlier this year ) . Good luck trying to find it ! However, I know the MJH Facebook page ( Building With MJH ) someone has pin posted a big list of MJH Bloggers on the main home page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1000645679954944/
I've got to tip my hat to the people who share their journey with us all, cause some of the blogs are outstanding and have been a great inspiration to my wife and I. ( We've only just been put on the construction list so have nothing to add ).
If you want me to save you a lot of time and research, I can send you ( PM ) diary of info I've collected over the last 11 months.
P.S... It's a little messy, but I've sorted it, so that it makes some sort of sense.. i.e.. Electricals, Finances, Driveway way stuff, retaining walls, Data, people's various experiences throughout their entire build including their needs and wants, doing stuff after hand over... Etc etc etc, There's dozens of hints and tips and advice on so many subjects, there's just too many to list here.
Cheers Daves8.
Hi Daves8,
This is my first post and I'm coming up to colour selection in 5 weeks time and drafting the contract. I'm building the Havanna three in goulburn and have spent quite a bit of time on here like you. I would appreciate it if I could gain a copy of your hard work to assist with my process?
Hi Benmc333
I just thought I'd post this message on here for others to read, cause I've had a few requests for the files put together with all the good topics on this Forum... I PM'd you with this same request.. Basically the data is too big to send via the Forums internal mail system.. and you'll have to PM me with your home e-mail address..( Cause you don't want to advertise your personal e-email address on this forum) ( sorry for stating the obvious for some, but just wanted to make that clear for the people who don't !!! ) so just click on the PM tab and send me your e-mail address.
...... This is what I sent to another user.. with detailed explanation of why I couldn't send the data.
;-
Someone else on this forum (Vjay) also PM'd me late last night, asking me to send what I had.. I tried sending it but the data was too big.. This forums inhouse mailing system has a limit of 60,000 characters, and the file I tried to paste in has 130,000 !! so it failed. The other obstacle is that any graphical data ( pictures, Fonts etc don't transition using this method ). + the inhouse mailing system won't let the user attach files.. ie word.doc file I have.
So the only solution was to send it via normal personal e-mail address which Vjay replied me with and I sent him not just one file ( word.doc files ) But several files this morning.. that you will also find useful.
Cheers
