We love the look of under bench appliances in there and over head cupboards but will end up with less storage. Nice blog mate. Did you get Mcdonald jones to do the drop shelf in the (assuming) entry? Also did you get the hot water controllers through them? If so do you remember the rough costs? Thanks.. The joinery options were costly but yes we had them included in the contract. It took MJH a bit of time to understand the request on the hot water controllers, its not a common request as mostly they just upgrade the hot water service to be 60 degrees capable and then limit the bath/shower areas to 50 degrees via a inline limiter - this alone is only $450 (no controllers). Also they had some confusion around providing the higher 60 degree temp to the outdoor BBQ kitchen - got sorted when I provided/referenced the Australian standards for HWS installs. The total price was $1020 to have 3 deluxe controllers plus the $450 for the inline limiter and upgraded HWS. As a mad BBQ man I wanted the higher heats for cleaning the BBQ plate.. lol Cheers, Steve Building the Miami 16 Exec with Modified Balinese facade http://mcdonaldmiami16.blogspot.com.au/ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13607Jul 04, 2016 7:51 am Hi guys does anyone know how much MJH charge for 2.7 from 2.55 . height ceiling. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13608Jul 04, 2016 9:28 am clicksuraj2 Hi guys does anyone know how much MJH charge for 2.7 from 2.55 . height ceiling. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is house dependent? Also other thing to think about is when you increase ceiling height its also best to increase door height to match. We personally think it's worth upgrading ceiling height to 2.7m. It cost us $6090 to upgrade from 2.4m to 2.7m ceiling. To upgrade all internal doors to 2.34m to match cost us $1160 Our McDonald Jones Cordova Two Build - http://cordovatwomjh.blogspot.com.au Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13610Jul 04, 2016 2:08 pm clicksuraj2 Hi guys does anyone know how much MJH charge for 2.7 from 2.55 . height ceiling. Hi clicksuraj2, We built the Monte Carlo Executive with rear activities and got quoted for both height ceilings. We got our keys in February this year so prices have probably changed slightly. The amounts were as follows: 2.55 ceilings - $5,550.00 You don't increase internal door heights with this ceiling height 2.7 ceilings - $8,660.00 plus increased internal door heights - $1,160.00. We ended up going with the 2.7 ceilings and are glad we did. If your budget doesn't allow you to go to the 2.7 ceilings I think the 2.55 ceilings are a nice compromise. So much better than the standard 2.4 ceilings. We also got the coffered ceilings in the entry and home theatre room and think they were worth every cent. For what they are I think they were pretty reasonably priced. I think the 2.7m look great, but we wanted to stick to a certain budget and the 2.55m was cheaper obviously and also meant we didn't have to increase the height of any doors. If money was no issue at all then 2.7m looks great. We are totally happy with our 2.55m though. And as everyone else has said, the cost totally depends on the house you are building. I also went with the 2.55m cielings, it does look great. I originally wanted 2.7m, but after visiting the display home with 2.55m ceilings and standard door heights, i was more than happy with it. We're wanting marble tiles as a splash back and it's just not an option with Mcdonald jones? We did the same and are really loving how our place looks Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13616Jul 06, 2016 9:32 am Phil94 Had any one had there splash back done after hand over? Eg removed the glass splash back and tiled it after? We're wanting marble tiles as a splash back and it's just not an option with Mcdonald jones? We have been in our home for 3 months and I really dislike our glass splashback. I wanted tiles originally but the choices MJH had were so limited that we ended up going with glass as it was included in our package anyway. I really want to rip the glass out and replace with tiles of my choice. I seriously stare at the splashback almost daily just imagining it gone. My husband thinks I am crazy for wanting to rip the glass out though so not sure if it will actually happen. Glad to hear others are also happy with their 2.55 ceilings. We definitely think it is a good and more affordable choice. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13617Jul 06, 2016 9:57 am I know what you mean. Splash-back tiles with Mcdonald jones are limited. I am thinking about asking if we can supply our own and have them install them, rather than wanting to take out the glass splash back because I know that will never happen. Sorry to burst your bubble Phil...chances of them saying yes to that will be nil to zero. MJH (as with most of the BIG builders) is pretty tight with allowing any contractor other than theirs to do any works prior to hand-over. This is due to OH&S issues and regulation. I remember someone here ripping-off his new kitchen after hand-over and installing one that he made and sourced out. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13619Jul 06, 2016 11:36 am I was still thinking they would be installing it, i would just be supplying the tiles rather than using there's? or would that still be too much... I know there would be zero chance getting my our contractor in there.
