Yeah they loved it lets just hope they don't think they can do it in the new house, the house is gone just waiting on mdj to come inspect here's hoping we're building very soon.

Such a good idea. I'm sure my son will enjoy doing this too when it's our time to destroy the place. Hopefully you don't have to wait much longer for your build to start.

Funnily enough I sent off an email about 2hrs ago to confirm our design variations and put it in exactly those words to let them know I want the hermitage layout. We also ended up deciding to add the verandas

I think you will be happy with the verandas. I will be interested to see what MJH come back to you with in regards to the kitchen. Since the Hermitage and the Bronte share the same basic design it should be possible. The question will be price.

We also were thinking great room, but where. One of the recesses would take our buffet, and the other would take a TV, which rules out those two locations, which would otherwise be perfect. Putting it outside the home theatre room blocks the straight through path from the front entry to the kids retreat. I would like to factor in a wood burner as we have access to an abundant supply of firewood.

Probably best to put it back to a MJH building and design consultant in the display homes. The one thing I was worried about with both the MJH designs we were looking at was the fact that the toilets are on the ends of the house. Was trying to figure out how we could get an extra powder room near the living area and our design consultant changed the plan to have a toilet coming off the children's activity instead of the WIR. Didn't end up going with it, but I think they would have the potential to come up with a good spot for the fireplace for you

After much discussion with our flooring place we have decided that we want MJH to leave out skirting uncut and unpainted for our contractor to do after handover.

Issue is that when we signed the contract at our colour appointment we asked MJH to install our skirting prior to handover. Does anyone know if MJH with charge us an admin fee for this change?

Anyone else had issues with lenders paying for the first progress payment?

Our lender CBA have flat out refuse to pay the first progress payment as it's considered a "deposit" and does not add value to the property......

Seems strange.

If it's a construction loan then it's designed to be drawn down in multiple stages. Keep battling and escalating within CBA. Sometimes the minions can't figure it out, you'll need a higher level minion.

I think you usually make the first couple of payments, up to whatever your deposit for the build is.

How long does it normally take for bricks to be laid? We were in front of another build with Mac Jones, slab and frame, however there bricks are finished and ours barely begun???? Just wondering what the standard is? Bricks been on site for 2.5 weeks.

We went through CBA and had to pay the first progress payment which is the outstanding left on the deposit, we wanted bank to pay ours also but they wouldn't. Hope you get it sorted. Good luck.

Mine took about a week. A crew of around 3 guys i think. Ive seen other builds take longer with more brickies though so i don't think there really is a standard measure.

Our bricks have been on site for about 1.5 weeks and we have brickies on site today to start.
Probably best to check with your SS ours wanted to wait till they had a MJH brickie rather than a sub contractor do our job hence the week delay.

Ours was being built while 3 other MJH homes were being built nearby (one is next door actually lol) and it changed all the time as to which one of us was in front, so our bricks may have been quick, but then we waited longer for a painter etc etc. Our bricks did start very soon after they were delivered, but one of the other MJH houses had their bricks there for months before any action - no idea what the hold up was. Guess it just depends upon the availability of the trades. Our S told us that throughout our build we did get lucky most of the time with trades being available right when they were needed, this doesn't always happen.

We were told not to stress out about what was being done, and when. Our SS supervisor said leave it to him, and the house would be ready on time. So we did that, and did not worry too much about the general progress. Result was that our home was finished six weeks early. We have been in since December, and are very pleased with the house. Any faults have been minor, and fixed up quickly. I suggest that you don't worry too much about what happens, and when. As long as it is finished by completion date.

Hi all,

We are finally at PCI stage with our first build!!

(Our blog is very behind... )

We are now looking to get an Interim Occupation Certificate to make our finally payment. In order to get the certificate released by MJH, we need to get these things done ...

Does anyone know what exactly we need to do? Is this something would have been done by the developer?

COND 25 – the owner will need to get a confirmation letter from council stating all applicable fee’s and charges have been paid in full. Once they get this they will need to send it through to us.

COND 22 – the owner will need to pay the section 94 contributions at council and provide us with the receipt. If council advise the fee is not applicable we will need this in an email or in writing.
