I used IKEA kitchen cupboards which are a system where the cupboards fix to a metal rail which you then screw straight into the metal stud. Feels safe and the cupboards are reasonably heavy . Sarah Buildingthegardenretreat.blogspot.com.au[/quote] Hi Sarah, Thanks for the info Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12888Dec 28, 2015 11:24 pm gohmsen cwiseman gohmsen Would never build with them again. Communication is poor. Once you pay the final payment you never hear from them again. Nearly 6months and still awaiting things to be fixed from handover. I've had to contact fair trading regarding issues. Supervisor was poor . I picked up more faults that. He did. Find someone else Have to agree To the MJH staff member hired to read this page take note- your after sales service is non existent! Several emails and voicemails left and the only one I'll probably get a response from is your emergency warranty guy as he's the only who seems to give a damn! Your admin staff in the warranty dept are useless and have no idea how to perform their role! And then the 90 day list. You constantly warned us about having it in on time and yet almost two months later nothing nada zilch! Are we disgruntled customers??? Absolutely! Every downpour of rain flood my freestanding oven. And I mean literally every downpour of rain! To the point hubby goes into the roof to check the source as every call and email goes unanswered to find water pouring in where the roof hasn't been sealed properly! Again sub standard workmanship! So I've emailed the warranty admin staff and the nsw operations manager this morning. His forum usually gets a response quicker to the negatives so I'll see who answers first so I actually have a chance at cooking my family xmas dinner! Know your feeling. I'm still waiting . Even with fair trading involved they still are slow. I'm dealing with Stuart from service and warranty manager. It's been 2 weeks since fair trading spoke to them and Mc jones say yes I will get some completion dates to you and still nothing. I ring every 3 days and get the same thing. Flat out getting to it. If we said that with our final payment we would have had to pay interest on it. They have my new laundry door in there factory. 5 weeks ago he said it was getting painted and would be done before xmas. Yesterday he said it was still getting painted. I'm disgusted with McDonald Jones and never again would I use or recommend them. Gohmsen, I can't agree more, my build just started, I already started to hate to check on the building progress as everytime I was there, I saw the problems. It appears to me that MJH just let the subby run the show- no supervision and quality control at all, then you can imagine the workmanship if you did not get a good subby. I tried to read as many posts as possible here, it seems MJH are have more and more unhappy customers... Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12889Dec 29, 2015 7:20 pm Is everyone who is having strife in NSW? It seems that the QLD business is not running over full capacity like the NSW business. Our (QLD) CLO told us that she has multiple Sydney customers she is looking after (i.e. Sydney people building in Sydney, not building in QLD like us) now. And perversely, since the QLD Colour consultant has left, we're dealing with NSW Colour consultants (who have actually been great and quick to respond). Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12890Dec 29, 2015 8:01 pm Hi All, We are in the early stages of building with MJH. We are building the Monte Carlo with rear activities. Early days with dealing with the sales guy was difficult, his communication was very poor and it seemed like things only got done when we asked him if it was ready, it took them a month to change the house title from side activities to rear activities! If I didnt love the house I probably would have pulled out then! Our CLO and colour consultant have been amazing answering all our questions really quickly and great design advise at our colour selections appointment! We currently have plans in with council (not doing complying development as we wanted a shorter setback) hoping to get approval in a week or 2 and demolition of our current house is booked in for the 25th of January! I am hoping for no longer then an 8 month build time, hubby has a friend who had their MJH finished in 5 months which would be awesome! How has everyone's experience been in Western Sydney? We got our house completed in south west Sydney (moorebank ) in just under the six months. All the paperwork and approvals took just over six months .....and we sent everything back immediately whenever a decision had to be made or money had to be paid. I thought the colours and sales people were awesome, build experience depends on your s s I think. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12893Dec 30, 2015 8:10 am amcmgm We are in the early stages too and have just had our pre-selection appointment. Can anyone tell me how I can find out what all of the upgrade options are eg. different baths etc, so I can check them all out before our selections appointment? Did you get a folder at this appointment? You should have received a folder full of brochures (eg Colourbond, Caeserstone, Hume) and the details of inclusions and upgrades for your house design (eg Next Gen, Stuart Everitt) at this appointment. That would have the bath options in it. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12895Dec 30, 2015 8:52 am I dont think there is anywhere else to see the upgrade options other then the colour selections center. You could ask if its possible to go in and have a look around so you can see the options before your appointment. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12896Dec 30, 2015 10:30 am amcmgm We did get the folder, but want further options. Does anyone know if this is possible? Realistically then - what you have in that folder are your options. You can look at other items from Mcdonald Jones suppliers and ask your CLO to see if they can source and price the item but it is not guaranteed you will be able to have the items you find. If you are in NSW - the supplier for the baths is Reece i believe. Look at their items and ask your CLO. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12897Dec 30, 2015 10:41 am Utilities question for Demo - do we need to have the gas lines going into the house dug up and removed before demo? my demo guy said to have the gas disconnected, we called the gas company and have had it booked in for disconnection like when you move but then they were talking about coming out and removing the meter and digging up the lines. We don't need that, just the gas switched off to the house. what have other knock-down rebuilds have done? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12898Dec 30, 2015 5:36 pm My earlier stage with MJH sales and colour consultant were good, And started to have issues when they started to build, my lastest problem was escalated to the operation manger and he chi firmed that they will rectify- so I should give MJH credits for this- looking into the issues and correct them rather than just sitting on it. Just hope from now my build can have a smooth run like you guys are having Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12899Jan 01, 2016 9:53 am . I thought your build went well. I am so sorry to know you are having problems. And no action for 4months for the exposed reo bars? With the broken slab, they won't be able to handover to you if they won't fix that. It could cost them more to fix it later. Hope someone from MJH read your post and act on it. For the problems I am having, my CLO escalated and MJH's operation MGR acted on it, so it is a quite quick resolution process for my case, especially they advised me the solution during the Xmas break.
