Our land is expected to register in December and our current tender with MJH expires in Feb. In order to avoid paying the difference in base price of the house we need to get on the construction list by the 2nd of Feb. seems very unlikely, what do you reckon? Cheers It depends - If everything goes smoothly for your land & no changes need to be made to your house & council is quick (although ours was very quick) Could possibly make it - we had until end of Sept so we were cutting it fine as well.. We'll keep our fingers crossed, not much else we can do I suppose . Thanks for all the info!!!
Hi Zappa, Where abouts are you building? We're pretty much in the exact same situation, land should be ready mid oct, register sometime in December, tender expires in Feb. Have you looked at how much it costs to extend the tender? Anthony
Hi Anthony, We are building in Edmondson Park (sydney), I asked MJH if they can extend for a fee, they said they cant. HAve you checked? where are you guys building? Cheers Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 12237Sep 04, 2015 9:46 am Hi Anthony, We are building in Edmondson Park (sydney), I asked MJH if they can extend for a fee, they said they cant. We were advised that it would cost an extra $6,000 to lock it in for a further 6 months. I had a look at the current base cost on the house and its gone up significantly more than $6k so its not too unreasonable of them. Damn! We have our price locked-in until Mar2016 so hoping not much delays with rego (late Sept 2015) of land and the other things that come after that. My understanding is I don't have that option, i simply have to pay the difference in base price (which is massive) if i went past Feb 2nd. Do u suggest i ring them again and try and negotiate? If they've changed it to 6 month blocks thats still going to be a lot more in your favour than having to jump up to the current base cost.
