I hope it goes well! Devine Home - congrats on your keys how exciting - pictures when you get a chance. Just engaged a pool builder so very excited about that too. I am still building my retaining walls but the savings on labour will pay for a pool so its well worth it even with my super sore back. Cwiseman - how are you going any news? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11626Jul 07, 2015 1:09 pm Hi everyone, Exciting to see all your progress, can't wait for ours to be at build stage! we have colour selections coming up and we got the promotion to pick 1 of 3 appliance packages, Miele, smeg and baumatic..Miele has a smaller oven so probably won't pick them but trying to toss up between the other 2. Anyone got any feedback if you have used these brands or are going to use them? Thanks Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11627Jul 07, 2015 1:26 pm House looks great jomarshall! Do you have a blog? Also what width is your home? Im thinking of the same facade just not sure how it would look on a 11.8m home. Is your roof pitch 26deg? I personally like 22.5 for narrower houses. What roof pitch is everyone using? Thanks Hey Burnsy13, My father in law works in the appliance industry and he recommends staying away from baumatic range. Miele are great but as you said it's unfortunately a smaller oven. We are going for the smeg, I am a big foodie and this one has a good reputation and great service support for when something fails too. Have fun at selections! Nat Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11631Jul 07, 2015 5:00 pm Hi all, I've been following this thread over the last few months as I'm also building with MJH. It's great to see everyone's builds coming along!! Currently building the Havana One. I'm at the bricking stage and I have a few question for you folks that are past the bricks stage. From the outside the bricks are looking good, however from the inside, when I had a look, I noticed that there were gaps between the bricks with no mortar mix between them. Is this normal or standard with bricklaying?? Any help would be appreciated! We have completed electrical selection today .....easy process and now for the build to start soon ....hooray Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11634Jul 07, 2015 6:06 pm I'd say it's pretty normal. Yes, you'd generally expect mortar to squeeze out the back a bit, and it has here and there, but provided there IS mortar in there and it's not only half a brick deep, I'm sure you'll be fine. Nat The 6000 series Miele ovens are quite big actually. Try and go to a demo day at a Winnings Appliances, we did and it was worth its weight in gold. We want a full oven, and a combi steam oven when we build. Steam is awesome. If you don't want either of those three, check out Siemens. Gaggenau on the inside when you look at it. Regards Graham and Kathy Owners of 2.5 acres of Paradise.......now working towards the house! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11636Jul 07, 2015 8:57 pm Ganilton Anyone know the prices of 1. Double glaze windows or sliding doors (let's say standard sizes)? 2. Cupboard above the fridge? And what sort of lightbulb comes with the downlight? Are there any choices? What are the prices? also if you want the wine rack.... pretty sure we got quoted around $1200 for the wine cupboard/rack above the fridge... suffice to say we said no thanks...... we are getting polyurethane not sure if that's why so much. Building the Garden Retreat One with MacDonald Jones http://buildingthegardenretreat.blogspot.com.au/ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 11637Jul 07, 2015 9:20 pm Stuart05 The cupboard over the fridge cost me $380... The LED downlights are a sealed unit that come as a whole item. $95 for the basic LED ones and the prices goes up for the dimmable or brighter ones. EDIT: I suspect this is the one that MDJ install for $95 http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighti ... lobes.html You will probably find that you end up with "Clipsal" branded LED lights and not the ones from Beacon lighting. I only found this out when i was having a general chat with the electrician that it had been changed. Apparently they are an identical product and come from the same factory. It took three months to get any information from MJH why the change and no notice. Anyone got any feedback if you have used these brands or are going to use them? Thanks We are going to colour tomorrow morning, well in 10 hours... Miele is a fancy brand, but the over and cooktop doesn't line up, coz the cook top is 900mm and the oven is 600mm. There is no framed microwave in Miele package. So we decided to get Smeg, which is well known as well. I read some reviews saying Smeg dishwasher in this package is very quiet.
