Can you please post a picture? I can't decide between the Black or Metallic Grey background! TIA Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10242Apr 29, 2015 2:18 pm Pantone... What are these glass signs you speak of? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10243Apr 29, 2015 2:29 pm Hi thewhitehouse, They're a complementary glass sign from MJH for the front of your house that you will get a voucher for at handover. You can pick whatever you want it to say such as the name of your house or a house number etc. I think some of the display homes have them with the name of the house design Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10244Apr 29, 2015 2:30 pm Vanderville Hi everyone, First post! I'm building a Lyndhurst/Bronte mix home in Sydney. Just finished our pre colour selections appointment at Baulkham Hills and was impressed with our dedicated interior designer. I've built before and I've never had a interior designer so I'm looking forward to selections! I'm going to start looking for quotes for tiling and carpets in order to compare them to MJH before our TPP appointment in a few weeks. Could someone please explain to me what occurs in the TPP? Also is anyone going with MDJ with their flooring? If so if you don't mind, how much are you paying per sqm? I'm interested in polished porcelain or porcelain tiles 600x600 for all areas except bedrooms which will be carpet. If I recall correctly their top tier lush carpet was $70 p/sqm. I wonder if it's worth getting MDJ to do my flooring to avoid the hassle of post build jobs. Is the price difference substantial from MDJ to other suppliers like Carpet court for example? Looking forward to the build! We did all of our flooring through MJ. $17000 with bamboo and upgraded carpet. The house is the Havana executive. Hope that helps! Jo Building 'The Havana Executive' on 1200sqm Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10246Apr 29, 2015 2:32 pm thewhitehouse Casey1983 Thanks patte_au, we just might do that. We are also building a Miami 15 - can I ask if you chose any extra zones / outlets? Thewhitehouse: it states in tender "Provide action air SRA203" maybe recheck your tender to see if it mentions that there.... Colour appointment for us tomorrow!!! Wish me luck as I think I am going to need it Casey... Ours says SRA173 I wonder why we got the 173 and you got the 203 seeing as we are building the same house in the same suburb. Did you get your aircon free as part of the promo they were running at the time? We upgraded our air con from this one at 15kw to the 17kw. Added and extra zone as well. Costs us $1100 Jo Building 'The Havana Executive' on 1200sqm Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10247Apr 29, 2015 2:33 pm Wow Jo that's cheap we're hearing figures of $4000+ to upgrade aircon. I'm so confused. The glass sign is nice. Don't know what we would have it say but it looks very cool Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10248Apr 29, 2015 2:44 pm Just chat to them at colours. We too thought it would be that much, but to keep the same unit and upgrade to a bigger kW wasn't much at all Jo Building 'The Havana Executive' on 1200sqm Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10249Apr 29, 2015 3:24 pm jomarshall We did all of our flooring through MJ. $17000 with bamboo and upgraded carpet. Also how much did you pay per square metre for both bamboo and carpet if you don't mind me asking. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10250Apr 29, 2015 3:39 pm Mark n Shel Hi everyone!! I've been checking out this thread for a few months now and have found it very helpful and informative. We are building a modified Milano 2 16m. We had our pre-selection appointment a week ago, which was very exciting!! I have my heart set on a handleless kitchen using a recessed channel (we have used this in a previous kitchen reno) but was told this is not an option. The channel they offer is stuck/screwed onto the top of the door and looks a bit 'cheap' like office furniture. We don't want to pay the $$$$ for 2 pak so our options are: 1. 'Cheap' office furniture channel handle or 2. Push to open latches Has anyone used either of these 2 handleless options and if so what were the pros and cons of each? Or is there another solution I haven't thought about? Also is it possible that MJ could source the recessed channel I want from another supplier? Thanks everyone! It seems stupid for MJ not to allow a handleless door. I can't see their logic. I would not be looking at their cheap solution. I assume it is because you are going for a veneer door, which cannot be veneered if not a flat surface. You could paint the doors which would allow for your requirements, or install quick release "push to open" latches. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10251Apr 29, 2015 3:46 pm thewhitehouse Thanks bradk gotcha. Well our land won't be registered for a while so no need to worry about that. We have had a really good experience so far with the exception of yesterday. My only advice to any readers and contributors on here is to perhaps hold any negative opinions for a private conversation with other members in a similar situation. It would seem MJH monitor this board rather closely. Then perhaps MJH could add their comments to respond to the criticism rather than slink around in stealth? A good builder is an open builder. I am sure the "critics" would welcome their response. Also how much did you pay per square metre for both bamboo and carpet if you don't mind me asking. We wanted laminated flooring as well as 2 different carpets in rooms. Because of the laminated colour we wanted was not available at Selections they said they could not provide it. They also advised that they "do all, or nothing". So if we went for an outside provider for any of the flooring, they would not do any of it and would not install the skirtings. They would just leave them in the garage area for us to install at our own expense. We obtained a quote for solid timber flooring and high quality carpets which came out to $17,500. I thought the approach by MJH was childish re the skirtings. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10253Apr 29, 2015 4:22 pm Mark n Shel Hi everyone!! We have no handles on our overhead cupboards. The doors come down an extra 20mm so you can grab under the door. We have 1 push to open door under our oven. I can't comment as we haven't moved in yet. Hi, We paid the 3K in late October from memory, and got on the construction list In Mid March. (please not we had a pool installed which held things up 3 weeks only) still a very long time. Just keep on top of the sales consultant and keep pushing things along as best you can. We have literally started two weeks ago but bad weather so far. seems like once you get going things move fast. and I forgot to add once we got on the construction list, work started within a few days so it has been super quick after getting on the list about 3 weeks ago. The glass sign is nice. Don't know what we would have it say but it looks very cool There must be a lot of different versions for the Actron because we are getting the SRA173 (17kw) whereas Jo said she is getting the same unit but upgraded from the 15w to the 17w. At least we are getting the 17kw already without paying any extra. Your house is about the same size as ours so maybe you are getting the 17kw also. It will say it on your tender document. Thanks, the reason why I asked is we are now at 230 days since the initial deposit, we have council approval, we have CC, however still not on construction list.
