I thought it was quite common to get pegged on the 21st day after going on construction list (the longest time allowed)

Yeah, I meant business days I haven't seen anyone get pegged a lot sooner than that. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 9648Apr 01, 2015 11:06 am Haha if your build is anything like ours you will need A LOT of patience!!! We are halfway through week 11 and we only have a frame. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 9649Apr 01, 2015 12:21 pm Hi Everyone! Nice to see everyone's builds coming along! My heart breaks for you Nat and Dan, hope tomorrow the brickies get a start and back on Tuesday. PCI tomorrow and from what I can see through the windows, our SS has been very thorough and picked up things I didn't see. The one thing that I will want to get fixed is the Mirrorshield splashback. 1 of the mirrors is distorted badly, looks like I'm in the mirror maze at Luna Park SS said he will speak to management today and have an answer tomorrow. Hoping that this can be resolved as we were not advised this would be an issue at our Colours selection and only read about it on this forum in the last few months that this was an issue! I don't understand if there is an issue with Mirrorshield why they continue to sell this product. Their display homes are beautiful and wouldn't settle for distorted Mirrorshield so I don't believe I should either. So hoping for a favourable outcome! Sorry about my rant but just a warning for anyone looking to get it in their kitchen Building the Monte Carlo Executive with Rear Activities Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 9651Apr 01, 2015 2:04 pm Pantone I managed to get a photo of what they've done around the edging of my kitchen. I don't know if this silver stuff underneath the kick boards with the masking tape means that scotia is going to go on top when our skirting goes on or if that's the edging itself.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ any update on this Pantone? I'm pretty picky about not having the beading around the edge, having been specifically told at colours they don't do this.. If I find they do, I'll have to be on the ball when the time comes. Ah so they probably match to the kickboards. Our would be white in that case. Yours looks good. I'd be a bit worried the silicone will dry and crack in time (with a few kicks) but we'll see. Am I right to think they don't run the boards underneath the kitchen units, wall to wall? Pretty excited about our Gerflor though, great upgrade. J and A Congrats, Let the games begin. Cheers.. it's been a mixed bag so far. Hoping the build runs nice and smooth, and we get a SS on the job who is pragmatic and knows their sh*t! Have been checking out posts intermittently and blogs too...I'm amazed by some people's stellar progress and others lack of progress... We are up to gyprocking and going to have a walk through tomorrow... so far things seem ok, but we have been really busy with work and travel and not really on top of what has been happening except that things seem to be moving quickly! Quick progress is good but also kind of scary if things are overlooked or not picked up by us. we are thinking of getting a private building inspector to review the job (Canberra region). Has anyone done this? Especially keen to hear from Canberra or Googong peeps! Also, wanted to know if anyone has asked MJH to do 1.5mm grouting with their 600x600 tiles in living areas? We have had our SS push back on this even though we were told it was fine at colours? We specifically chose tiles to have 1.5mm grout and a seamless look. Otherwise would have chosen another option. Now reviewing the paperwork there is nothing in writing except our choice of tile...and I am kicking myself! Also, for those who have ducted gas heating, did you specify in electrical where vents would be? I really want vents in the bathroom and only just thought of it! The other unforeseen issue we have is a BIG a big pile of dirt from the cut out which will need to be removed and a retaining wall that wasn't on the plans...they have managed to build around the dirt, but I am trying to block out the cost of getting it removed along with a retaining wall... That's all for now!
