Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7006Aug 28, 2014 3:25 pm It has now been 2 weeks since they started our site scrape, and thanks to this stupid rain, it will prob be wnother 2 weeks before they get back onsite. Our site is a disgrace haha, there is SO MUCH water. Where they have removed the rock and left it for removal, there is legit a mini ecosystem happening, theres a pond that would be half a metre deep taking up a space of about 2*3m in the top right hand corner of our block. Unfortunatley we now just have to wait for everything to dry before they get back up there. Chris is going up with a pump on the weekend, as we really don't see how the water is going to anywhere - the partial site scrape has left us with no run off. Last weekend we were up there digging trenches which did make a difference - this weeks rain didnt pool near as much as last weeks did but the damage was already done After a bit of rain down here this morning it is now sunny and my obsessive checking of the bom radar is optimistic... but knowing our luck who knows! fingers crossed for at least 5 days of dry weather... a bit of wind wouldnt go astray either! Building sure knows how to test your patience.. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7007Aug 28, 2014 4:04 pm Hi all, i'd been reading this forum since we decided to go with MJH, we're building Milano 2 with a little bit of modification..we had our colour selection walk through yesterday and my head is already spinning which colour we're going to select, we had three weeks to the assignment..Has anyone have their tiles and carpet done by MJH? Any suggestion on colour i.e. brick, garage, window etc....By the way, i'm colour blind which makes more difficult for me to chose. (as this will reduce your choices for Austral Bricks). What colours do you like? Have a look at everyone's blogs and even McDonald Jones flickr. If you can see something that you like then take these pics with you at your colour appointment. The staff in the colour studio are awesome and will help you put something together. I went totally brain dead a few times at my appointment so I needed help several times. I didn't know what wet area tiles to get so I went with what they suggested. I didn't want to spend 4 hours picking a tile. Best of luck, can't wait to see your Milano! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7010Aug 28, 2014 6:02 pm Lot 948- try to look through as many mjh display homes as you can. Hopefully you'll find one you love the colourscheme of then your colour consultant can look up the colours on their computer. At the very least, it's a good starting point. Michnchris-the same thing happened to us in may. Fingers crossed for dry weather. Mattnbiz-the bifolds look great but we found them to be too expensive for out budget. I guess it depends on what you can afford and your wish list. Exciting news-our security fence was taken down today and the site was cleaned up (barely). Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7012Aug 28, 2014 9:26 pm Congrates Shaune_n_Bel, I was out your way today. Welcome jomarshall, another Novacastrian Boppa, my part in the build is to oversee everything is OK and organising the trades. mattnbiz, my wife wanted Bi-folds but I convinced her to change to sliding because of the mosquito population that we have here in Summer. That's a bummer michnchris Excellent news Jadee, not long now. Speaking of not long, the bank's valuer was out this morning and I'm waiting for the call to receive the final cheque. Although it may be put on hold as I'm not happy with the flooring and a few other things. On a brighter note, deposits were made on the Ducted Air Con and flyscreens/Crimsafe which both will be installed later next week. The concreter came yesterday and gave us a quote and I'm getting another tomorrow. Bad news is I need a drop edge beam on one side which has bumped the price up but the quote still came in under budget. A sigh of relief and excited to know MJH will commence in next few wks. No good michnchris about all that rain:( Im hoping it dries up too! .Best of luck!Tends to rain a bit out my way. Thank goodness I have a near flat block with a new drainage sytem, that seems to be working great. After $$$ of course.Council had damaged crossing through block to cut trees and stormwater pipes were damaged. I have a service 2 provider coming out sat to setup for 3 phase power.I hope all goes well. Your house's are looking fantastice Jasper and Jadee!Hopefully you will get those shiny new keys soon. Nice Jasper to see you were out my way I have watched yours and BradK's builds since March this yr. Best of luck all Bel Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7016Aug 28, 2014 11:47 pm Lot948 Hi all, i'd been reading this forum since we decided to go with MJH, we're building Milano 2 with a little bit of modification..we had our colour selection walk through yesterday and my head is already spinning which colour we're going to select, we had three weeks to the assignment..Has anyone have their tiles and carpet done by MJH? Lot 948 I went in really prepared to the final mychoice studio colours day. I knew exactly what I wanted.I had collected so many samples it was crazy! But let me tell you those interior designers are amazing! They give you plenty of advice and ideas. I did change some colours and things with there help. They just have an eye for design. Depending on your taste, just think of all your favorite colour schemes and visit as many displays as u can. Also helps to drive through new estates to get ideas for exterior colours. All the best. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7017Aug 29, 2014 7:10 am mattnbiz Hi guys We are struggling to decide between Bi fold and sliders to the rear of our house Has anyone got the Bi folds from McDonald Jones and if so what do you think? Hi mattnbiz, we decided to have bi-folds with our build as we had stacker doors in the last and felt they restricted both the view and entertaining aspects of our alfresco. I loooooooooove them like nothing else, you can open them fully and once they're folded all the way back....wow, it just opens up the space completely! Take a look at my blog to get a better idea of how they added a more open plan to our indoor/outdoor entertaining. I just love open plan living and with bi-fold's, it just accentuates this beautifully. Having said that, they are a lot more expensive than sliding doors. I'd say if your budget can stretch, go for it you certainly won't be sorry. Also if your having higher ceilings, think about increasing the height of them too. Good luck Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 7018Aug 29, 2014 7:13 am Congrats Bel, let the fun begin! Best of luck Thankyou Balfield just love your house. I agree to have bifold doors if you can, they do look amazing. I just couldnt as im only 30 metres from the water and would have way to many insects flying in. Bel Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
