I just had a quick inspection of the house and the painters were still doing their thing. The Interim Certificate just came through from council so we are just waiting for the house to be valued before handing over the final cheque. The A/C has been pencilled in to be installed Friday week as long as handover goes to plan then the driveway, hopefully not to far away. We have an issue with the bank over that so I plan to have that resolved this week. Our plantation shutters are two weeks away and flyscreens/Crimsafe doors have been ordered. After catching a breath from that lot, we have retaining walls, fencing and landscaping to do. Lots of fun times ahead. Shutters. Bane of my existence. Our shutters are still not yet in the country more than 2 months post handover! PissPoor effort from MJH in that regard. No followup from MJH I have to do it. Never EVER would I recommend shutters through MJH. Sour ending to an otherwise good experience. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 6988Aug 26, 2014 5:47 pm Wow Brad I'm surprised you were able to breathe after all that lol. So happy for you good luck with it all.
Oh that's sooooo not good brad, it certainly would leave a bitter taste in your mouth you poor thing. I didn't choose shutters as I wanted to do blinds post h/o but I certainly would feel the same as you if I had to wait this long for ANY window dressings. On the other hand, I feel for MJH, they must have thought the company they use for the shutters, would keep up with the demands, so maybe they should use a company that is closer to home (Australia)! I hope you have a resolution soon good luck. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 6989Aug 26, 2014 9:26 pm Krissy39-your colour choices look lovely. We have the same facade (Balinese Tropicana) and Engage bricks. Coffee cake is our kitchen cupboard colour. I will try to update my blog soon, haven't had much time lately. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 6990Aug 26, 2014 10:20 pm Congrats Jasper you are almost there!!!! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 6991Aug 26, 2014 10:21 pm MelnTom For those of you who have had your 90 day follow up, can anyone tell me how MDJ contacted you and if it took a lot longer than expected? We are due for ours now but have heard bad stories about how long follow up takes Definately a few issues that need attention. Hey guys, We will have been in our house 12 months next Wednesday and I am still dealing with maintenance issues. I have MDJ coming out this Thursday to review the maintenance work that has been carried out so far. I wasn't happy with what was done, hence the reason why I've got the Manager coming out. You need to chase them up, otherwise they tend to forget about you. They are experiencing delays with maintenance because they are so busy. I was told originally the delay would be about 8 weeks, but it took about 6 months before we saw anyone. Good luck, Nai Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 6992Aug 27, 2014 1:03 pm Quick question about tiling. Say I have 60m2 to tile and I'm advised to purchase an extra 10% for wastage. When quoting the cost of labour for the tiling job do they charge 60m2 or 66m2. I can't see how I would be paying 100m2 for that 10% wastage.
